To my ears, Willie's great chops are delivered just below pitch. Maybe it's his style to play like this? Anyway, the tunes are well performed and his band mates are quite competent.

Akins really knows how to work his horn. From the covers to the originals, from up tempo to the ballads, I love to listen to this CD while working or relaxing. His sidemen compliment him well with high level chops. A great selection for any tenor sax lover.
