5.0 out of 5 stars The uncut footage of the fights my Dad told me about
I'm 28 and I've always known that Ali was the greatest without ever seeing one of his fights. Until I watched the uncut footage of three of the greatest fights of all time. 3.0 out of 5 stars These are the whole fights, not a highlight reel...
It's important to keep in mind that these videos are the whole fights (Liston, Foreman, and Frazier III), not an assemblage of the most thrilling moments replete with docu-sport commentary. I was a little disappointed, b/c I expected something different -- but, admittedly, that's mostly my fault.

This review is from: Ali's Greatest Fights - I Shook Up the World (Clay vs. Liston 1964) / Rumble in the Jungle (Ali vs. Foreman 1974) / Thrilla in Manila (Ali vs. Frazier III 1975) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I'm 28 and I've always known that Ali was the greatest without ever seeing one of his fights. Until I watched the uncut footage of three of the greatest fights of all time. Ali vs. Liston I, the thriller in manilla and the rumble in the jungle. This is the actual footage and commentary that was broadcast. Watching it was like traveling through a time machine. I was back there watching Ali demolish Liston, the most intimidating and feared fighter of all time (including iron-bite tyson!). Watch the first round, as Ali dances around Liston too quick to be hit. Listen to Joe Lewis trying to defend Liston at the end of the fight after Liston doesn't answer the bell. Watch Ali invent the rope-a-dope against foreman. I watched the entire Frazier fight in slow motion, marveling at the incredible exchanges between the fighters. See if you can find where the tide of the Frazier fight shifts to Ali's corner........ I hignly recommend reading "King of the World" by David Remnick before watching this video. It will set the stage for you to appreciate why Ali's defeat of Liston was the greatest upset of boxing history. It will also allow you to appreciate the background to the fight that you won't get from watching the video....Liston's mob connection, Ali's secret conversion to the Nation of Islam, Malcom X sitting at ringside, the truth about Ali's antics at the weigh-in, and Ali's comments to the reporters at ringside......Unforgettable videos and worth every dime

5.0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST AT HIS GREATEST., March 3, 2000
By
This review is from: Ali's Greatest Fights - I Shook Up the World (Clay vs. Liston 1964) / Rumble in the Jungle (Ali vs. Foreman 1974) / Thrilla in Manila (Ali vs. Frazier III 1975) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This 3 tape collection shows Muhammad Ali's greatest bouts. The between-round commentaries by boxing icons, like Eddie Futch, Milt Bailey, Archie Moore, Fight Doctor Ferdie Pacheco, Angelo Dundee and many more, make this collection a must for serious fight fans. Ali's stunning upsets against 2 seemingly invincible foes,Sonny Liston (in 1964) and George Foreman (in 1974)to his final (and most brutal) battle of atrition with his arch nemesis, Joe Frazier, are vividly re-lived with the same intensities as their opening bells. Ali's Greatest Fights resurrects not only 3 of Ali's greatest bouts, but arguably three of the greatest moments in boxing history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ali's greatest fights - Great collector's item!, October 12, 2002
This review is from: Ali's Greatest Fights - I Shook Up the World (Clay vs. Liston 1964) / Rumble in the Jungle (Ali vs. Foreman 1974) / Thrilla in Manila (Ali vs. Frazier III 1975) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
These three Ali fights were not only great moments in sports history. They were also memorable events from a historical standpoint. Muhammad Ali is the reason why there is so much money in sports today. Salaries were modest before Ali's time. They grew exponentially during his time. And they virtually exploded later on.

And his first fight with Sonny Liston changed boxing history forever, just as Tiger Woods' record breaking Master's win in 1998 changed golf forever. Buy this 3 tape vhs set, and own a piece of history. See a young Ali box rings around Liston. See a cagey Ali 10 years later dismantle the younger, more powerful George Foreman. And watch in awe as a heavier, aging Ali goes toe to toe with Joe Frazier in their third fight, the famed Thrilla in Manila.

The beauty & grace of Muhammad Ali speaks for itself. Watching these fights, from beginning to end, is incredible. I can watch them again & again, especially the fight against Foreman. What perfection! Now I'm looking for more Ali fights on video. I haven't been successful so far. Any suggestions? E-mail me if you have any info. Peace. (jrrrhodes@hotmail.com)

What can I say! What a great series of fights. Sonny Liston, George Forman, and Frazier III really make it well worth the $25. I got to witness one of the greatest moments in all of sporting history. Buy it!!!!

These videos show all three phases of Ali's amazing career: he beats Liston with speed, Frazier with power, and Foreman with brains.

This is a great set of videos, but I sure wish I could find the first two Ali-Frazier fights in a similar package.
