5.0 out of 5 stars One of the better romances of the year, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
Alison's Journey written by very talented story-teller Amey S. Tippett is a wonderful read. This great story is of a young woman smart enough to walk away from her painful past and start a new, brighter future. The main character, Alison, walks away from her very rich lifestyle and all of it's horrible nightmares and embraces the brighter future she finds in a smaller, saner world. Along the way she overcomes the many obstacles of the world as well as within her own self.
I found this to be a truly inspiring read and a well planned story that encompasses many areas of emotional and personal growth. This wonderful book is not only an inspirational piece but a gripping love story as well. I felt myself being captivated by the story, the characters, and the wonderful town that Alison now calls home. I would recommend this book as one of the better releases of the year.

After reading Amey Tippetts book Allisons Journey, I find myself lucky to have a relationship like the one I have. This is a story of one womans struggle to leave an abusive relationship and believe in herself again. Taking the abuse for the last time she runs away and finds not only a new town, new friends and a new love, she finds herself. For any woman who needs a little courage of their own this is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, March 31, 2005
This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
Alison's Journey is a GREAT book! It is the kind of book that you don't want to set down until you have completed it yet when it is done you wish there was more because it was so good.
One thing that really stands out to me, while reading Alison's Journey, was that I felt as if I was truly in Alison's shoes the whole way through. Alison's actions and reactions were very beleivable to the situations presented her and also those of the all the other characters.
Amey S. Tippett I must say VERY WELL DONE....I HOPE TO SEE MUCH MORE FROM YOU...!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!, March 25, 2005
This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
"Alison's Journey By Amey S. Tippett is a story of a young woman's courage and triumph. Alison's journey begins as she makes the decision to leave her abusive husband and start a new life somewhere in a small rural town in Ohio. She soon meets Tyler the handsome, but rugged owner of the local garage in Grabill.
I really enjoyed reading Alison's Journey. It's one of those stories that you don't want to end. It brought back memories of the small town that I grew up in. The author Amey S. Tippett has a way with word. I highly recommend this book. A must read!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Alison's Journey, August 23, 2005
This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
After fleeing her abusive husband, Alison gets as far as Ohio when her car breaks down. Fortunately, the small town in which she finds herself stranded welcomes her with open arms. Her new landlady refers her to her brother, Tyler, to fix the broken car, little imagining that Tyler will repair Alison's broken heart. Over the next few months, Alison finds work, friends, and the joy she thought she had lost. Tyler's entire family becomes hers, yet fear of her husband lingers. As her divorce's finalization comes closer, the man becomes determined to regain his wife, and Tyler wants to know where he stands with Alison. Haunted and tormented by her past, Alison is unable to see what the future holds. Is Ty's love strong enough to wait?

**** The journey Alison makes from victim to victor is heartwarming. Love's power is clearly seen throughout the book. ****

3.0 out of 5 stars A good debut novel, July 10, 2005

This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
Alison's Journey, the debut novel from Amey S. Tippett, introduces readers to Alison Shaw and leads them as this young woman escapes the fast-paced West Coast lifestyle (complete with the manipulative and abusive husband) in exchange for the sedate and unconditional acceptance of rural Ohio.

Tippett gently leads readers through Alison's change from cynical outsider to a welcomed member of Grabill, OH. The author does a wonderful job of developing the main character and the storyline is organized and logical.

While Tippett's writing style puts the reader in tune with the main character's thoughts/fears/motivations is very well done, it also hurts the story because it takes away from the other characters in the book. Tippett does a great job of creating wonderful and likeable characters that help Alison in adjusting to her new world, but you get almost nothing about them. This is also true about Eric Shaw, Allyson's husband. While reading Alison's Journey I really, really wanted to hate this guy, but the author did not give the reader enough information about him beyond the first chapter or two.

All told, Amey Tippett has asserted herself as a budding fiction and romance novelist that has a firm grasp of relaying complex emotions into words, which is not an easy task. Alison's Journey is definitely worth reading and Tippett's writing is definitely worth following.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written romance, great read!, May 19, 2005

The topic of abuse is handled very well. This story helps to make you understand why a person feels compelled to remain in an abusive marriage. Amy Tippett has woven an enjoyable romance with a deep understanding of abuse, it's pattern, reasons and helps the reader to understand how this is happening. She has shown how much a victim needs support and help to be able to free themselves of an abuser.

Not only was this an intersting book to read, well written but a topic I have long wondered about. I am delighted to know a portion of the profits will go to helping these victims.

I highly recommend this book to everyone

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the whole family, May 18, 2005
This review is from: Alison's Journey (Paperback)
Alison's Journey takes me back to the days when a whole family could sit down and enjoy the same book. In an era of age specific novels, this book breaks the age barriers and can be enjoyed by both a mother and her daughter. The content of the book may also lead to healthy conversations between parents and children in regards to different types of family situations and how family members make each situation work. It addresses what is a healthy relationship between a man and woman and could possibly aid in alerting young women to the signs of an unhealthy relationship. Alison's Journey is a touching story with engaging characters that capture your imagination and leave you asking "When's the next novel available?"

Ms. Tippett has wrote a genuine piece of work. I think that each & every reader would be able to relate to some part of the story no matter what their background is. I honestly, am not a romance reader, but sincerely enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to more books by Amey S. Tippett in the future.
