Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!, October 30, 1999

I have seen Springsteen, Metallica, AC/DC and lots of other shows---and the Dubliners are the BEST live show I have ever seen! They rock, they get the crowd into the scene and they know how to party. "Breathe" is a great album, but NOTHING captures the pure energy of the band like "Alive, Alive O." Fun music, fun band and definitely a fun time wherever these guys are!

They followed me home...., September 30, 2003

This review is from: Alive Alive'o (Audio CD)
....its not every day you get a rock concert in your living room but with this album thats exactly what you get. My biggest complaint about this album is that it repeats early cuts from studio albums...but it has 3 singles unique to this recording that really stand out and are definately worth the purchase price. My only other compaint is that it wouldn't be a real show if you didn't hear Keith telling stories, doing impressions, or making bad jokes...for pete's sake record the banter its half the fun. Blink is one of my all time favorite songs, and the only studio track on the album. According to Keith it was written after a long night 'out on the piss' (pub crawling) and 'completely drunk at 4am', he said he wrote it in about 15 minutes but you would never know it...soulful, honest, and intense. This album is a must if you like live music or are a dubs fan. PS-this is better than having them in your living room, this way you don't have to figure out how to get rid of 5 rockers before your parents/spouse/roommate gets home...and an album can't drink all your beer.

Original Sounding music to get you through the day!, August 9, 1999

Each song has a slightly different sound which for me adds to the CD so you are not listening to the same thing for the entire CD. It shows the diversity and talent of this group.

Great live rock masterfully done with heart and appeal, June 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive Alive'o (Audio CD)
The group offers a little bit for everyone: traditional Celtic music with verve, haunting lyrics, and driving rock. Their music is best live, capturing the kind of incredible energy and connection with the crowd they portray on stage. Since I first heard them play in 1995, I've told everyone I can about them. They are not a group that disappoints. Their music is creative, fun, from the heart and for anyone who enjoys talented musicians who can pull off an instrumental blend that is impressive and sure to please. They are a group we will all be saying, someday I am sure, I remember seeing them when...Everytime they come to Salt Lake City, I attend both shows because I never get tired of hearing them play.

One of the best live albums ever from an amazing live band., April 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive Alive'o (Audio CD)
The Young Dubliners are an amazing live band that has so much charisma. This album captures them in their element, where they are at their best; live. The Dubs have recorded GREAT new songs and a couple of classics, the album flows wonderfully and is great album to turn up and just sing with, as loud as you can. The Dubs did the right thing recording a live album, that is how this band will become famous, their amazing live performances. One of my favorite CD's I own.

I was blown away, it's the first CD I have ever baught from a band at the show and I had to run all over town to find a pulse machine to get the money to buy it. The guys were so cool they even went back into the truck to dig a copy out for me when I got back because they had already put everything away. If you get an opertunity to see them DO IT WITHOUT HESITATION, if not GET THIS ALBUM!!!!!

Simply Awesome, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive Alive'o (Audio CD)
Get this CD now if you like hard-charging Irish rock. One of those CDs you keep playing over & over and never get tired of. "Change the World," "Man Upstairs," and their version of "Fisherman's Blues" are absolute treasures. Not sure if the Dubs are well known in Ireland, but then neither were the Cranberries at first...

This CD is a great of a great many great ones, but what makes this album so...great is that is has the Dubs's best songs live at the Belly Up Tavern. It's a must have for every dubbie. - Sean (clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/youngdubs)

The Young Dub's are absolutely great!, January 9, 1999
By A Customer

If you have any interest in Irish music you'll really enjoy this band. I saw thier show at the Universal Hard Rock and spoke with some of them afterwards. They are great people! The goal in thier music is to integrate Celtic music, themes and stories, and bring them to modern times for new generations to understand. They are a band to make the Bard's proud!
