1.0 out of 5 stars Die Hard Fans Only!, January 25, 2000
This review is from: Alive In America (Audio CD)
This one is strictly for the Die Hard "Ozark" fans. Released under the Concert Classics series through Renaissance Records in 1999, no doubt to "Cash In" on the Bands new release CD "13". What appears to be a genuine Live recording turns out to be nothing more than a "Bootleg" recording of a concert somewhere, I can guess,in Colorado in the late 70's. It has some interesting moments on it, and seems to be played in front of a very small personal crowd. Track number Four gives some indication of the vintage of the concert as they claim the song "Love Makes The Lover" is a new song. This appeared on the studio Album "Don't Look Down", which came out in '77. It contains all the standard "Ozark" tunes and a couple of collectors items. Be warned before parting with your hard earned cash! The recording quality of this CD was probably from a very poor analog tape and leaves a lot to be desired. I don't think the Band even realised they where being recorded. Tape hiss is evident throughout most sections of the CD. Ten songs in all and coming in at just over 40 minutes and costing about the same as some current new release Albums this is not what you would call a "Value for Money" purchase! Presentation of the CD is average with most of the artwork looking like nothing more than a color photocopy. The CD booklet features pictures and Album covers of other "Ozark" releases and the main cover artwork is taken straight from the cover of their 1980 CBS Album. Not a great deal of effort put into this one at all and considering this is Volume 8 in a series, you would think they would have given up after volume 1. The Final verdict. This is strictly for people who will buy anything with "The Ozark Mountain Daredevils" printed on it. Check out a Real "Ozark" Concert, because if you listen to this one, you won't want to go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame on record label, April 7, 2001

I am a big fan from Holland who buys everything from the Ozarks, but when i bought this rubbish I had to bring it back the next day, because it's not even bootleg-quality !! It's a shame that the Ozarks -legacy has been treated this way !! Potential buyers should stay away from this 'product' and enjoy "Timewarp" instead.

Greetings from Holland,

Martin

1.0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE, June 27, 2000

The idea of an intimate concert with one of country-flavored rock's all-time greats sounds wonderful. The problem is that this must have been dug out of some old forgotten vault somewhere...the tape was running slow so the band sounds like it's on ether. I can't imagine anybody enjoying this. I don't blame the band - surely they didn't know. Someone should be ashamed.
