5.0 out of 5 stars Great Heavy Rock CD That Will Probably Be Unfairly Ignored
This is a great CD from a great band! Every song is a heavy rock classic. If you like their old stuff, you'll love this new stuff! One of the best CD's I've bought in quite a while, no filler at all! BUY IT!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's traditional Quiet Riot from the classic line up
Quiet Riot's peak came early in their career with the albums "Metal health" (1983) and "Condition critical" (1984). After these two fine efforts it started to go down hill for the band, due to the influence of L.A. based hair metal. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's traditional Quiet Riot from the classic line up, February 17, 2004
This review is from: Alive and Well (Audio CD)
Quiet Riot's peak came early in their career with the albums "Metal health" (1983) and "Condition critical" (1984). After these two fine efforts it started to go down hill for the band, due to the influence of L.A. based hair metal. I guess Quiet Riot have been active in some kind of form and line up throughout the years but they have probably experienced how hard it can be in the rock 'n' roll business when you no longer are flavour of the month. With "Alive and well", the classic line up have come together for another shot at rock. I can't say that the material is bad or lousy but over all it hasn't the same attraction like songs from the albums mentioned above. Maybe that's what the guys felt since they have re-recorded some tracks. The new versions are good but some of these "old" songs are better in the original versions.

Some critics would say that DuBrow & Co haven't realized that some 15 years have passed since they were in the spotlight and on the covers. If that's good or bad is up to you to decide, but if you choose to go for this album you will definitely not find any nu-metal, grunge, or pop. This album is traditional Quiet Riot and if you like their other records, I'm pretty sure that you will like this one too. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quiet Riot back at in 99, April 26, 2004

I recently picked this one up along with Guilty Pleasures. This CD was a surprise for me. Kevin still has it {like it ever left). It had been quite a while since i picked up a QR cd. But i'm glad i did. This whole CD is great, well i could do with out "Slam dunk", that one i could just not get into. But other than that, the revisited classics made it all the worth! Way to go Kevin and Co. Now if we could just get Quiet Riot to get back at it again, but who knows. Looking forward to Kevins solo Cd this June.

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer Come Back!, May 17, 2000
This review is from: Alive and Well (Audio CD)
I think the band has been under rated since they came back. This Album is definitly a Killer Come Back on thier part, I would recommened this to any QR fan as a MUST HAVE! They stayed true to thier music & thier fans. I hope to see another album in the near future so I can add to my QR collection. Great Job guys & Keep on Rocking!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a comeback, December 11, 1999
This review is from: Alive and Well (Audio CD)
Rudy Sarzo reenters the band after a 15 year layoff in a big way. This album would have been huge if it had hit radio. "Slam Dunk" is a great radio-friendly rock song and "The Ritual" reminds me of the song (and album) 'Condition Critical' from 1984. "Don't know what I want" is a powerful, fresh new song and an underrated gem is "Too Much Information." Even the remakes are good, Kevin recorded them the way they sound when played live. It wasn't meant to compare them to the old ones which still rock. 15 slamming tracks and a must-buy for anyone who likes straight forward rock or anyone who ever liked the band. 'Alive and Well' is a strong return to form for Quiet Riot after a couple of releases which deviated slightly from the core sound. The sound here is vastly different from the previous album, 'Down to the Bone' (1995), which was a fine album in its own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Remarkable Album, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive and Well (Audio CD)
What a remarkable album this is. The years haven't taken an ounce of energy from this group. A full album of wicked new HEAVY tunes complemented by complete remakes of their earlier hits make this the best Metal Album I've bought in YEARS. To top it off, QR includes a magnificent cover of AC/DC's Highway to Hell. What more could one possibly ask?

4.0 out of 5 stars a welcome return to form, September 1, 2000

This review is from: Alive and Well (Audio CD)
I had my doubts when I picked up this CD, but as soon as it started playing, my head was a-noddin' and my foot a-tappin'. Definitely a quality album from an underrated band. Kevin hasn't lost his very distintive voice, one that I love very much. "Slam dunk" is a memorable party anthem, "the Ritual" is a heavier rock tune, a great tune as well. One of my favourites has to be "Against the wall", how could I resist a song with an infectiously catchy melody like that. And the album sounds really good, heavy enough, but not too heavy. The new versions are OK, but are no match to the originals, with the exception of the excellent version of "the Wild & the Young". All in all, though the album has a lame name, it's well worth the bucks you spend in it. To quote Kevin: "Let's party, boooooooooyz!"
