Best Book Ever on the Universal Frankensteins!!, April 5, 2009
This review is from: It's Alive! The Classic Cinema Saga of Frankenstein (Hardcover)
If you are interested in any aspect of the Universal Frankenstein films, this is the book for you. I bought my copy when it was originally published and still read it today. It is full of information on the films, their writers, producers, directors and cast members. It also provides an interesting look at the old Hollywood contract system and the effect it had - good and bad - on the players in Universal's horror genre.
This is truly one of my favorite books.

A masterpiece-The Greatest Book on Frankenstein ever written., January 17, 2009
This review is from: It's Alive! The Classic Cinema Saga of Frankenstein (Hardcover)
Absolutely essential book about the history of the Universal Frankenstein series, written by Gregory William Mank.
The book reads like an epic unfolding like a novel, capturing all the drama and stories behind the making of the most beloved of all Horror film series.
It was this book that set the precedent for many future books on film Horror, including David Skal's definitive take on Dracula,"Hollywood Gothic".
The book was published in the early 80s,and while many of the individuals that were interviewed for the project are long since gone, this book's sentiments still remain relevant to this day.
I'd place this on the list of the Top Ten Horror Film books you MUST own.
For the serious Horror film fan and cinema aficionado in general this book makes for a great read.
