5.0 out of 5 stars Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers, August 6, 2007
This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
I found this to be an easy read for a complicated subject. I have passed the book on to my boomer relatives to get them started on the road to understanding their parents' needs as well as their own estate planning needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely well written book on important issues, June 26, 2007

This book is so cleverly written and entertaining, it is almost (but not quite) possible to miss the incredible level of legal expertise emanating from its pages. Despite its broad scope of social, medical, and legal issues for the over 50 (maybe even over 40) crowd, it cuts straight through to cover the essentials in each area, in a thoughtful and engaging manner. Given the plethora of poorly written books purporting to counsel boomers as they grow older, this book is a refreshingly concise and thoroughly professional approach. Highly recommended.

This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
The authors really cover all the topics that you need to consider when you are either taking care of an elderly loved one or thinking about your own planning. This book really got us talking and thinking about a whole range of issues that we had not considered before. A must-read if you are over 60!

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Engaging, May 9, 2007
This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
I have been associated with elder care for several years. This book is cleverly written yet filled with critical information for those of us in the industry and, more importantly, for children of aging parents who are thrust into these complicated situations without warning. This is a must-read for lawyers, doctors, ministers, boomers and their children. Hegland and Fleming have done a terrific job. WELL DONE. I hope [...] is listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Boomers, June 2, 2007
This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
This books is a "must read" for all seniors, people who care about seniors (like their kids) and people who some day hope to be seniors (the rest of us).

In an incredible short amount of space and with humor, intelligence and an obvious grasp of their subject matter, the authors have covered all the bases in an exceptionally readable style. From telemarketing scams to pension plans, from Medicare to "when should you stop driving?" they cover it all. Talk about "one stop shopping!" I had already ordered a second copy for my brother before I'd finished reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real World Advice, July 24, 2007
This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
Alive And Kicking is a comprehensive overview of issues that will or may possibly accompany aging. while written with humor, it is firm is addressing even situations readers may not fully wish to acknowledge. It gives basic information people can use to manage their affairs as well as indicating when professional help is necessary, and provides suggestions for initiating family discussions of difficult problems. The authors make useful distinctions, based on their professional experience, between theory and the real world especially in matters of living wills, advanced directives, etc. Just hope if you do have to hire a lawyer that you can find one as experienced and insightful as the authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vast amount of useful information, March 12, 2008
This review is from: Alive and Kicking: Legal Advice for Boomers (Paperback)
What I liked about the book is the vast amount of useful information on all areas of planning for ones over age 50 years. And its a book that my son who is under age forty, found interesting, because it discusses issues that many people may never have thought about. It also is a book that dispells the notion that becoming sixty or older, means getting 'old' and unable to do many of the things we love doing in our forties or fifties. Cannot recommend the book enough.
