5.0 out of 5 stars Two Great Albums One One CD...
...is an excellent purchase. The Dirt Band at the Troubadour in November 1967 makes up the 'Alive' album, and the 1969 odds-and-ends compilation (of unused material, save 'Collegiana') "Rare Junk". Both were issued after the group broke up (1969). The NGDB later reformed a year later. This CD is an excellent purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alive/Rare Junk by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
This is an album from some live appearances. Not bad , but I ususally don't like live appearance albums. I don't like the commentary between songs etc. Most of the songs are good, but this album is just O.K. in my book. I'm a Dirt Band fan, but this is far from their best album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic music that's stronger than dirt, August 16, 2002

Two long-out-of-print LPs in one great CD, capturing the early pre-country years of NGDB. The "Alive!" performance, with its blend of great music and comedy (Jeff Hanna's monologue about how John McEuen became "King of De Banjo", the unforgettable "Fat Boys Can Make It In Santa Monica" - as well as their performaces of "Crazy Words, Crazy Tune" in both regular and speeded-up versions - are not to be missed!), paired with 1969's "Rare Junk," a compilation of songs that had not seen the light of LP or 45 (except for one song),
give the listener an incredible "look" at a band that's still making great music 35 years later.
P.S. For the one reviewer who asked, "The Broken Road" appears on two albums: "Hold On" (Warner Bros.) and "Acoustic" (Liberty/Capitol Nashville), both available from the NGDB's website.

A very fun and lively album from the Dirt Band's early days. Contains a lot of funny gems you will not find on a greatest hits album. Sadly, it was stolen from my car. I will have to order another...

This was a good cd. I liked the music, but the one album I really wan is no where to be found. I want the album that has Broken Road on it. Do you still have it somewhere?
