5.0 out of 5 stars Alive In Studio A - WOW!
I would highly recommend this disc to any Iron Maiden fan. First off, the production of the two disc's is incrediable! It sounds like these guys are playing right in front of me. If you own Tattooed Millioniare and Balls to Picassco and thought the songs needed more punch it's in this disc! Bruce is the man.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Bruce completists only.
Okay, Bruce's voice is absolutely fine on this. Both his lives albums (this one and Scream For Me Brazil), he's in top vocal shape. However, Scream For Me Brazil is a true live album with the Tribe of Gypsies (Roy Z and his band who played on Balls to Picasso, Accident of Birth, and Chemical Wedding) and Adrian Smith (who played on Accident of Birth and Chemical...

Okay, Bruce's voice is absolutely fine on this. Both his lives albums (this one and Scream For Me Brazil), he's in top vocal shape. However, Scream For Me Brazil is a true live album with the Tribe of Gypsies (Roy Z and his band who played on Balls to Picasso, Accident of Birth, and Chemical Wedding) and Adrian Smith (who played on Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding). Here, Bruce has the Skunkworks lineup (Alex Dickson and some other people) and they just simply do not know how to play any Balls to Picasso or Tattooed Millionaire stuff on top of the fact it's a one guitar show, Bruce's needs atleast two Guitarist to get the full of effect of his songs. The second is, the first CD was actually for an aborted Live Radio broadcast, so no crowd. The second CD is a true Live album but just suffers from the Skunkworks lineup. Get Scream for me Brazil, which I rank higher than Iron Maiden's Live After Death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alive in Studio A for awesome, July 19, 2000

Alive in Studio A is a great album by Bruce Dickinson. To me it has a feel of the chemical wedding, the same heavy songs mixed with soft swaying back and forth ones so if you like the chemical wedding youll love this 2 cd set. I have read everything about this album how its not worth it becuse the same song are on both albums. This album is not like that, they maybe the same song but there two different version of the song. I really liked the 2nd disc the most on this one just cuse of bruce talking and giving an intro to each song. Ever song on the album is top noch the greatest song on this album is tears of the dargon. Bruce Dickinson fans rejoice another great album for you all. Plus if you like this album check out some maiden albums like powerslave and check out bruce's scream for me brazil you wont be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for the collector, October 14, 2003
This review is from: Alive in Studio a (Audio CD)
To say the least, I was very disappointed by this "live" album. The reason I put "live" in quotations is because this isn't a very "lively" album. There is no crowd cheering what-so-ever! It makes me wonder why Bruce Dickinson & crew decided to release this? Part of the live album experience is to feed off the energy of the audience, and without that, it just sounds like the band is performing acoustically on a sound stage. Another complaint is that this 2 disc set contains 2 seperate concerts, but the concerts have basically the same song listing. One good thing about this collection is it looks very nice. It comes with a super nice booklet with plenty of pictures and liner notes from Bruce, and also some very nice picture discs. Other than that, only Iron Maiden/Bruce Dickinson collectors should get this set, and even the collectors won't listen to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars BRUCE IS STAYING ALIVE, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Alive in Studio a (Audio CD)
Firstly, this is NOT a good introduction to get into Bruce Dickinson's solo work, more for the collectors and diehard (especially of the Tattooed Millionaire/Balls To Picasso era) fans, and if you dont know what was meant in the brackets then avoid this and go buy 'The Chemical Wedding' or his latest offering 'Tyranny Of Souls' for a taster of Bruce Dickinson on top form!

Got all the other albums? hungry for more? then this CD is definately for you, ignore what the other writer said about not being the tracks not being live, this is a DOUBLE-DISC offering both studio sessions and a live set. Clearly he's two stupid to notice the other CD either that or he just got done out of a CD!

Although the CD only stretches across his first two albums worth of material, the 'Studio A' disc, is brilliant! Much more rawer than the original versions, more fun, faster and upbeat (Drums are especially more noticable) and Bruce's vocals sound more menacing than ever before!

The second CD gives you basically the same set, only LIVE, at London's infamous Marquee which are really something special considering, these are early tracks recorded live and unreleased anywhere else and really gives you an insight into Bruce's newfound, fun, fresh, attitude to music and performing live to the smaller crowds.

Great stuff, wouldn't reccomend to anyone else they owned all other of his (now remastered) catalogue.

Which is another thing, Bruce recently (2005) re-released his ENTIRE catalogue remastered and this CD alongside his 'Scream For Me Brazil' live album has been remastered and repackaged as 'Alive' and is really worth forking over a bit extra cash for to get all three live albums, beautifully packaged and never sounding so good! I definately recommend that over this to all (except collectors who will no doubt be happy adding this to their collection)

4.0 out of 5 stars Alive in Studio A, July 15, 2001
This review is from: Alive in Studio a (Audio CD)
It's a great album, although it takes some getting used. Cos it's no way near what Bruce did in Iron Maiden. The quality of both cd's is great. "Tears of the Dragon" is my personal favorite from this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great album, September 16, 1999
This review is from: Alive in Studio a (Audio CD)
This albums contains great songs as "tears of the dragon". Though I find it a little strange to have two cd's with identical songs (1 different) but it was worth my money, absolutly.
