A LIVELY-WRITTEN LOOK AT URANUS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive and Well with Uranus: Transits of Self Awakening (Paperback)
Every astrological library should own this treasure. A great value, with much packed into its pages, "Alive and Well With Uranus" is written in an original, attention-grabbing manner. It contains good, basic material on the planets and houses---all seen from the viewpoint of the sky god, Uranus, when he's visiting each of them. I was entertained by the humorous and down-to-earth style of writing, but was also left intellectually stimulated enough to see each planet and house in a different light.I particularly took to heart the author's advice (among his many practical tips for capitalizing on one's own personal Uranian transit) about staying conscious when working with Outer-Planet transits---see Chapter One. He encourages us to take advantage of potentially creative solutions. Chapter Two gets down to the nuts and bolts of "how" and "why" these "cosmic messenger" transits work (especially see "a Transiting Planet's Role"). When you read this book, explore the first four chapters in order. Plus, in the Introduction, you will enjoy the mythology and learn how well it symbolizes the astrological energy we know as Uranus (see especially "The Moral of the Story"). Part One is aptly named: "Wake Up and Smell the Freedom", which is one of the main messages of Uranus. Part Two describes Uranus' transits to all the planets and houses in detail. This material is nicely organized using catchy subheadings. Finally, at the end is a nice, summary chapter, short but succinct, that assumes you have come through your Uranian transits "alive and well" and have accrued the benefits thereof. It thus addresses the newer, freer, individualized Uranian you---with your altered consciousness and your more optimistic view of planet Earth and the Universe. Altogether, this book is the perfect one to read right now, with Uranus transiting its own sign, Aquarius, and with the emerging 21st century at hand. Bil Tierney did a great job imparting his knowledge and wisdom in a Uranian way!

Ingenius Insights into Uranus,
By Karen Branch (Duluth, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alive and Well with Uranus: Transits of Self Awakening (Paperback)
As a professional astrologer, I find Bil's book on Uranus extremely helpful when I want to tune in to the essence of this planet's unpredictable energy. Not only does he give the deeper, psychological manifestations of its transits to planets and houses in the natal chart, he gives real life examples that stimulate my creative interpretations. I find myself laughing with recognition, as he brilliantly weaves his Uranian tales. Bil has a wonderful talent for bringing the planets down to earth in a way we can all relate to and understand with great clarity. There are many astrology books out there on Uranus and the other outer planets; Bil's books are fresh, entertaining and great catalysts for deeper astrological perspectives. His books belong in every astrologer's library!

Bil Tierney never fails to make astrology understandable. He breaks concepts down to their basics so that the beginner has a clear, profound understanding of the concepts. Advanced students and practicing professionals add layers of meaning to their work thanks to Bil's work. "Alive and Well with Uranus" turns this "troublesome" planet into something that astrology students can work with effectively. Bil doesn't sugarcoat, but always offers hopeful insights that enrich the subject.

Clarity Personified,
By Jeff Jawer (Redmond, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alive and Well with Uranus: Transits of Self Awakening (Paperback)
Bil Tierney is one of the best teachers and writers in astrology. This book continues his excellent work as someone who breaks astrology down to its basics, then puts it back together again with intelligence and clarity. Bil puts his finger on the pulse of Uranus so that the beginner knows where to start, the intermediate student where to grow and the professional how to add depth to her or his work. I highly recommend this book!

A super book that clearly and succinctly explains Uranus transits through the houses and in aspect to all planets. This is a terrific reference for both practicing astrologers and those navigating Uranus transits because Tierney explains the purpose of the transits while offering practical suggestions for navigating them.

JUST IN TIME FOR URANUS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive and Well with Uranus: Transits of Self Awakening (Paperback)
This is a practical, yet entertaining book that looks at Uranus as it might function for us in everyday terms. That doesn't mean it's superficial in its interpretations of our mundane realities. Mr. Tierney explains astrology in a clear and readable way that even a beginner would understand, yet the more you already know about Uranus, the more you'll probably appreciate the picture he paints of this unusual planet. He has a talent for phrasing things in ways that you don't come across too often in astrology, plus his welcome addition of humor adds to this book's overall enjoyment.

Half-baked cookbook,
By A Customer
This review is from: Alive and Well with Uranus: Transits of Self Awakening (Paperback)
This book was okay for a beginner, I suppose, but the way I see it, anyone that would be aware of and interested in astrological transits is looking for something more substantial. Howard Sasportas' book on the transits of the outer planets, Gods of Change, is a much more useful tool, although it would be wonderful to see a full length book on Uranus.
