3.0 out of 5 stars Weak Production
The vocals for Matt were cut later and thus...NOT live. The production flaunts it too. They can't even edit around it. I love Alkaline Trio but this DVD is pretty much unwatchable. It's more fake music industry crap. If it's a live DVD let's hear what you sounded like. I am bummed out. Punk and Rock are supposed to be REAL and this DVD is far from it. I just saw them live...

Positives: Great band, great show, and while some complain about the camera work, it's a band whose members spend their time onstage standing in one spot. There's not much you can do.

Negatives: The audio was touched up. I know it sounds picky, but the cleaner audio you hear doesn't match up with your expectation of a live show.

If you like the band, buy the DVD; it's the only one out there. If you're inbetween, leave this one go until you know whether or not you like them more.

Holy crap Alkaline Trio is by far thee greatest band. This video proves it. It's live in their hometown of Chicago on Halloween night. Sicne it was on Halloween, they don't play any songs from Good Mourning but it makes up for it. The set list is.....
Hell Yes
Madam Me
Maybe I'll Catch Fire
Mr. Chainsaw
Take Lots With Alcohol
Cringe
Tuck Me In
I Lied My Face Off
Armegeddon
Another Innocent Girl
Queen Of Pain
Trouble Breathing
Goodbye Forever
Private Eye
Crawl
Nose Over Tail

Radio
97

They do a great job on all the songs so I can't choose a favorite. You should definitly buy this! It's worth the 16 bucks you pay at Gallery Of Sound for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars best "live" audio i have ever heard, July 31, 2003
By
This review is from: Alkaline Trio - Halloween at the Metro (DVD)
this is a fantastic performance by the alkaline trio. although the video leaves something to be desired, the audio (which is all that really matters) is pristeen. granted, it has been totally mastered down to sound fantasic, and it does. you can hardly hear the crowd and at times almost sounds like the lead vocals are overdubbed (just try and hear the back-ups)all i could think about was how much better they sounded here than the last three times i have seen them. so if you like this group, pick this up asap. they play stuff from every album except good mourning ("tuck me in", "crawl" and "queen of pain" kick bum) note* if you really like the live sound (squeeks, feedback, cheering, out of tune..etc) dont get this dvd.. it is two steps away from being a studio recording, but in my opinion..it is very, very good.
also includes alternate angles and other extras...

5.0 out of 5 stars great show, March 13, 2005

Alkaline trio is possibly one of the most underrated bands in the music industry at the moment, they have been churning out great material since the late 90's and until we've had enogh have not gotten the respect that they are due. This CD highlights some of their best material from their first four albums. The best songs they played on this DVD were radio,mr.chainsaw, madame me, and 97. Although the bonus features on this DVD are scarce the concert more than makes up for it. Weather you have a small or large interest in the alkaline trio, I highly suggest you pick up this DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alkaline Trio- CHICAGO'S FINEST, August 18, 2003
By
This review is from: Alkaline Trio - Halloween at the Metro (DVD)
Alkaline Trio's performance at Chicago's Metro brings back many good memories from October 31st of 2002, and I think their best performance yet. It seems that when I watch this DVD I'm right back there, one person behind front row watching them all over again. The sound is great and really shows how lyrically talented they are. Skiba's voice is phenomenal and Dan does a great job backing him up. The encore with their song '97 is probably the best I've seen them play and you get to see it here! No doubt that this is their finest work! The quality is also very good and Alkaline Trio live is something to experience, whether on this DVD or at their concerts. You really take a piece of them home when watching this DVD. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must have for the hardcore Trio fan, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Alkaline Trio - Halloween at the Metro (DVD)
This DVD is not the bvest sound quality, it doesnt have much on the way of extra's, and the camera angles leave something to be desired. So you ask, why would i rate it 4 stars? Because i am a huge, huge fan. This DVD is not for the casual listener, or for someone new to the band. It is more for those who want something else to add to their already overwhelming collection of all things Trio.
