4.0 out of 5 stars 'All About Tonight' [REVIEW] August 10, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Blake Shelton's back with another "6-pack" album. This is basically an EP, a short album that's a few songs short of being considered a real album. Shelton's switched to this format so that he can release music more frequently than once every two years and so that his music in return becomes a bit more affordable for his fans. Shelton's first 6-pack album Hillbilly Bone was released back in March of this year. It was okay. Decent. It had one or two good tracks and the rest was unfortunately pretty forgettable. How does "All About Tonight" compare?

The Good: Musically, it feels completely unrelated to "Hillbilly Bone". "All About Tonight" ditches the interludes (for the most part) that plagued the previous mini album. This album, however, at leas feels like the tracks were chosen to give it a carefree, party, light feel. It's much more cohesive with a better sound and production value than "Hillbilly Bone" that felt a bit unfocused. The theme that pulls all of the tracks together is love. You can tell that Shelton was inspired by his relationship with Miranda Lambert more so on this release and with these songs than with the past albums. Some of the stand-out tracks are "Suffocating" where for the first time in a while, Shelton put aside his jokes and sarcasm and showed genuine emotion and heart. It was reminiscent of his old hit "Austin" and something I hope he does more of in the future. Also, "Draggin' The River" featuring Miranda Lambert (his fiance) is a nice love duet but isn't at all sappy. If you know anything about these two artists you know they are all about making you laugh more than they are about pulling at your heart strings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Blake 6 pack September 8, 2010

I'm really begining to like Blake Shelton's 6-pack approach to CD's. "All About Tonight" is such fun and upbeat, and well worth getting the entire CD for that song alone. Of course the rest of the CD is pretty outstanding too. For all you Blake fans, don't miss this one!!!

This is a great album. See Blake live and you'll understand him.....he is a funny guy...

I like the mix of serious and fun on this 6 pack.

Basically take this album and his Hillbilly Bone 6 pack.........put them together and you have a great album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Six Packs... December 20, 2010
Format:Audio CD
My dear so-called Blake Shelton "fans." You aren't being ripped off by this great country singer. Just becuase he chooses to release EPs now instead of full length albums, does not mean you get any less bang for your buck. In fact, you are getting a better deal this way. How many other artists do you know of that will let you buy a disc of only a few songs at a discounted price? I know of none. It is done this way to get music to his fans more frequently, and at a much better price. And to those of you who are saying you're paying the same price for half the songs, I'd like to know where you get five dollar CDs from in a full length form. That's a great price. Furthermore, I dont think Blake ever held a gun to anyone's head and made them but his CDs. I could be wrong there, but I imagine he would have done a little jail time for that. If you dont like the way Blake reaches out to the fans, then you could always go back and listen to your fake country boy bands, and leave the real country singers to the people who appreciate them. This guy, more than most, loves his fans, and has never missed a chance to say it or show it. He is giving music to peopel twice as often, and for half the price.
Now, as far as this CD, and his previous Six Pack, they are filled with great country music in the style that we have come to expect from Mr's Shelton for the last few years. He has a very distinct and powerful voice that resonates throught all the tracks. He makes no secret of the fact that he is having a good time doing what he loves to do. Theses CDs are filled with the loud, footstompers, the middle-of-the-road country radio tracks, and the great ballads that he has always produced. Blake Shelton continues to release great music, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

Just adore his voice, the songs he picks to sing. It's across the board, the sweet teary stuff, the hard rocking stuff. Blake is cool, I think he is The Voice.
