Book Description

All About Us September 8, 2009
Finals week is approaching and Mac is still undecided on where to spend the holidays. Normally she'd go home to Scotland, but spending two weeks alone in the castle with her dad isn't as appealing as it used to be. So she invites Carly, Lissa, Gillian, and Shani to join her for the holidays!
Mac is determined to make this the best Christmas ever. She even decides to organize the traditional Hogmany dance for New Year's Eve. If she can get her mother involved in the dance, maybe her parents will finally get back together.
But when Mac and the girls arrive in Scotland, they are faced with bad news: the castle is falling apart and Mac's parents are struggling financially. Not only that, but Shani is in big trouble with Prince Rashid's royal family. Can the girls find a way to celebrate the holidays, get Mac's parents back together, save the castle, and rescue Shani from her relentless pursuers? There's only one way to find out. . . .

More About the Author

Award-winning author Shelley Adina wrote her first teen novel when she was 13. It was rejected by the literary publisher to whom she sent it, but he did say she knew how to tell a story. That was enough to keep her going through the rest of her adolescence, a career, a move to another country, a B.A. in Literature, an M.F.A. in Writing Popular Fiction, and countless manuscript pages. Between books, Shelley loves traveling, playing the piano and Celtic harp, watching movies, and making period costumes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tidings of Great Boys, January 6, 2010

This review is from: All About Us #5: Tidings of Great Boys: An All About Us Novel (Paperback)
Mac doesn't want to spend her two week holiday in her dad's castle in Scotland. She invites her friends Lissa, Shani, Carly and Gillian to join her. She believes if she organizes the traditional dance and asks her mother to help her with it that she will be able to get her parents back together. This is just the beginning of problems for Mac and her friends. I think the one thing I enjoyed os much about this book was how clean it was. It was refreshing to pick up a book that was not vulgar or obscene. I look forward to putting it on my shelves.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Christian Read For Teens, October 31, 2009

This review is from: All About Us #5: Tidings of Great Boys: An All About Us Novel (Paperback)
I love when my teenage daughter picks up a book! I really love it when it's a book with a positive message and grounded in morality. I love it best when God is a prevalent character in the book. And this is the case with Shelley Adina's "Tidings of Great Boys". Shelley's books speak right to teens where they live with intelligence, humor and compassion. She touches on issues that young Christian women face and gives them positive role models to emulate when they experience similar circumstances.

My daughter has devoured not only this book, but Shelley Adina's entire series. I recommend these books to any mom who wants her teen girl to read wholesome, godly material.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another fun addition to the series, October 2, 2009
This review is from: All About Us #5: Tidings of Great Boys: An All About Us Novel (Paperback)
Again I wish we could give 1/2 star ratings because this is really a 3.5 stars.

This is the fifth book in the All About Us series and picks up right after the ending of book 4 with the girls making plans to join Mac in Scotland for Christmas. There are several agenda items which include getting Mac's parents back together. In the meantime Mac also has to try and reconcile her relationships with her American friends as well as with her Scottish friends. In doing so she learns who are truly her friends through thick and thin. This was another sweet story as we follow the girls adventures in a real life castle. The ending was a bit of a surprise and I am curious how the next book will pick up after all that has happened.
