5.0 out of 5 stars Charmingly Amazing...Just Gotta Love This Love Story...
I loved this movie. It touched me in a nice way that reminded me of the movie "Hav Plenty". This seemingly low keyed love story has a cast that will knock your socks off. Get ready for this...Renee' Goldsberry (The Jackson's: An American Dream), Terron Brooks (played Eddie Kendricks in The Temptations), Tico Wells (The Five Heartbeats), Chris Spencer (he has...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK For A Saturday Afternoon
I purchased this DVD based on a recommendation here. I agree with the reviewer who says that this romantic drama was just OK. I really didn't get a sense of chemistry between the main characters. Yet I do think the supporting cast did a very good job. Rockmond Dunbar(Kenny, Soul Food) was very convincing as an egotistical, brazen star football player. It was also good...

I loved this movie. It touched me in a nice way that reminded me of the movie "Hav Plenty". This seemingly low keyed love story has a cast that will knock your socks off. Get ready for this...Renee' Goldsberry (The Jackson's: An American Dream), Terron Brooks (played Eddie Kendricks in The Temptations), Tico Wells (The Five Heartbeats), Chris Spencer (he has been all over the place), Rockmond Dunbar (Soul Food Series on Showtime), LisaRaye (The Players Club), Debbie Allen (from Houston and has done it all...acting/directing/choreography), Lou Myers (Different World) and Vanessa Bell Calloway (BET, Coming to America) bring this story to life. The characters are unforgettable.

Nicole has a lightbulb moment in her relationship with Robbie. She realizes that his long term plans do not include her. She runs off to sort things out and wait for him to chase after her. Her roommate (LisaRaye) sublets her apartment to Brian (who is the adopted brother of Robbie and has been estranged from his family for several years). Nicole and Brian both have personal issues to deal with. In the midst of dealing with their own issues, they find love unexpectedly. Both of them are working at a club called Toomie's which adds flavor, some really nice music and a few laughs to the movie.

This is a cute, charming, heart warming, feel good kind of movie. A treat awaits after the movie is over. The viewer gets to see the scenes that were scrapped, but were just as good as the ones that were included in the movie.

Yet I do think the supporting cast did a very good job. Rockmond Dunbar(Kenny, Soul Food) was very convincing as an egotistical, brazen star football player. It was also good to see Tico Wells (Choirboy, Five Heartbeats)in a small role along with an array of other talented black actors that we know and love.

One thing I think was great was the music. I love the singing scenes. Terron Brooks is definitely easy on the eye. I would love to get the soundtrack.

I'm not totally disappointed but I did expect more from "All About You".

I absolutely enjoyed this film, it's refreshing to watch a movie and feel what the main characters are feeling. This movie took me along for the ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. The soundtrack is also amazing and I certainly hope that everyone gets an opportunity to view this film, you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air..., January 4, 2006

This review is from: All About You (DVD)
So many films depict what is sick and twisted about our society's view on relationships, then along comes "All About You". A tale of true romance - love finding you when you least expect it. I found out about this movie from a friend who received it as a gift. She went on and on about how great the movie was and I just had to get it! I found the story to be realistic and the characters to be very genuine, just like your cousins 'nem. The leading lady, Renee Goldsberry was sweet and her suitor, Terron Brooks was just adorable. All of the supporting cast was magnificent - the brother/sister-in-law, roommate Lisa, co-workers (cute pair), bar owner Toomie, and even the howling and whistling pro baller (sexy a-- Rockmond). More film makers should explore the mysterious thing called love. This film gets it right on the money. To those asking about the soundtrack, check out the credits on the DVD. I ordered it directly from the company. I am so glad I did - the music is the icing on this delicious slice of life!

5.0 out of 5 stars All About Terron - Keep It Simple, April 20, 2004

This review is from: All About You (DVD)
I have been a fan of Terron since I saw him portray Eddie Kendricks in 'The Temptations' movie. I thought he was a wonderful actor, dancer and soo darn fine!

Well, I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised it was to hear HIM singing in this movie. You see, I didn't know that it was Terron's OWN voice he was lip-synching to on ALL (except one, 'Paradise') of The Temptations songs in the movie because he sounded so much like Eddie. He and Christian Payton (Paul Williams) are among the few that re-recorded the songs using their OWN voices. I hope by seeing this movie all of those 'Temptations' movie fanatics (like me) out there know that Terron IS not only a talented actor and dancer but a talented SINGER with an AWESOME voice and range.

Oh yeah, Renee' Goldsberry is also an awesome songwriter and singer too as well as a very accomplished actress it seems. Lol...

Love the movie but especially the music like 'Keep It Simple'. Go get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away, January 17, 2006

This movie is one of a kind. It is a must have! A great romance story and true to life, it depicts two people with real problems in learning how to let go of past pains and learning how to trust and love again. No hiding their real selves, but open and vulnerable to the heartaches of love. They give each other a try. WOW!

Renee Goldsberry and Terron Brooks, both seasoned actors, are excellent in this movie and their on screen chemistry brings this movie to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get it today!, April 2, 2004

Man! I loved this movie. I have had this movie for about a month and I've watched it at least 10 times - maybe more. This is like the black version of "When Harry Met Sally" - only better. A struggling, but extremely talented singer and a misguided law school dropout become roommates. But the catch is the singer, Terron Brooks, is the brother of the former law student's (Rene' Goldsberry) ex-boyfriend. These two characters find out that they have more in common than they think, and in the meantime fall in love with each other.

If you like love stories, and you are hungry to see black people portrayed in a way that is hardly ever seen on film, you will love this movie. Brooks' and Goldsberry's performances are fresh and witty. And the music is off the chain!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ranked High for Decency, October 30, 2005
This review is from: All About You (DVD)
I bought this DVD, a few months ago, without recommendations or having viewed any trailers. I absolutely treasure this movie. In a day where not much is left to the IMAGINATION, this movie allowed me to do this. The talented Swansons (writers/producers), the incredible casting, and the sheer delight of the main couple (characters played by Terron Brooks and Renee Elise Goldsberry) makes this a movie to be viewed over, and over, and over, and over....Which is just what I have done! If, in a movie, you are looking for the (proverbial) drugs, violence, vulgarity, degrading sex scenes, and abusive relationships - don't buy/rent this movie. On the other hand, if you desire to watch a storyline with character, people who keep their clothes on, talk in language devoid of the usual 4 letter word types, you get the idea...then by all means, watch this film. You will not be disappointed. I am waiting to hear/view more from the Swansons. Here's to imaginative, clean viewing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must see romantic movie, December 20, 2004
This review is from: All About You (DVD)
When I bought this movie, I had no idea that i would end up seeing it again and again and again. I love this movie!! You have teamed up two very talented people whom I have never heard of. They had great chemistry in the movie from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the music. I am always looking for great music to listen to and I have found it. I recently purchased the soundtrack because i kept playing the DVD over and over again just to hear "All About You" sung by Terron Brooks and Renee Goldsberry, and for listening to the jazz version of the song. I told all of my friends about this movie.I would love to see more of this type of movie. Keep up the good work.

I truly enjoyed the movie. I loved the characters. I loved
the music so much I am ordering the soundtrack. I wished
the movie could have included the deleted scenes. They
were also very good. I really enjoyed the fact that Rene
wrote the songs also that Terron wrote and sang his song
too. They are both very talented and I look forward to seeing
more of their work on screen. Make this movie an addition
to your own DVD or VHS library. Everyone that I let borrow
the movie enjoyed it. You will too. It's a "chick movie"
but the guys will like it also I ranked it up there with another
favorite of mine "How to lose a guy in 10 days" see that too.
See the movie and get the soundtrack its great to listen to
in the car or home. I made a cassette from the movie to
play in the car so I could listen to it on the way to/from work
both of my daughters love it too.
