This is a great cookbook! The recipes are straight forward and simple, but taste wonderful. It would be a nice wedding shower gift because it discusses the basics of cooking.

Great for a novice like myself. Recipes are absolutely delicious! Lots of ideas such as Apricot Chicken, a spectacular meatloaf, baked apple pork chops, and all kinds of yummy desserts and snacks! Humorous and informal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great go-to cookbook!, December 28, 2008
This review is from: All-American Comfort Food: Recipes for the Great-Tasting Food Everyone Loves (Paperback)
This is the cookbook I pull from my shelf when I want something quick, simple and delicious that could be mistaken for a passed-down family recipe. In a word, everything in this cookbook IS comfort food.
There are no exotic ingredients, nothing that requires a special trip to the store. This could be the perfect cookbook.

I've owned this book for over 9 years and haven't found a bad recipe in it yet. And the chapter set-ups, recipe introductions and literary quotes throughout the book make this cookbook a highly enjoyable read - just on its own.

My favorite recipe has to be the "Easy Supper Chili". I can throw it together using cupboard staples and have it on the table in 30 minutes.
