I loved the stories behind the recipes as much as the recipes. I have tried quite a few of them and they are easy and hearty. I read the book from cover to cover as there are bits of nostalgia and trivia to delight any one who remembers the old westerns.It's functional, funny, and touching.

Not only a cook book, but a trip down "Memory Lane" with scores of pictures of Cowboy and Cowgirl stars of now and yesterday. Can be used as a "Coffee Table Book" as well as an addition to your cookbook collection. If the receipes aren't to your taste, the nostalgia will be!

We use this all of the time. It has recipes that you can actually prepare and they really taste good.

I purchased this cookbook for a friend who is a chef and a old T.V. show buff. He loved it. The receipes are fun and a few even caught his eye, but the book is worth the trivia even if you don't cook.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I'm a big fan of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, and was delighted to see pictures of them in there, and actual recipes from the real people! Not only are the recipes real cowboy food, but the facts, trivia, and other neat stuff in the book is just as much part of the book as the recipes! The sections are labeled in a very western-y style: Appetizers are "The Frontier", Beverages are "Watering Hole", Soups and stews are "Stir-ups", and so on.
There's a whole section on chili, one of my favorite foods! I was very excited to find "Gene Autry's Texas Chili", and several from Roy Rogers too. There's recipes from all the greatest cowboys in there; from TV stars to rodeo champions, to just ranches who still love the American cowboy and his great food. There's a recipe from the show Gunsmoke, called "Gun-smokin' Chili", which I thought was really neat! The desserts are great as well (just like everything else in the book!). From pies to cakes to cookies and ice cream, it's got it all! I really love cowboys, and I am a cowgirl myself. I have my own horse, and wear a cowboy hat, boots, a leather belt and a big belt buckle with a horse on it every day. This All American Cowboy Cookbook really hit the spot! I can't wait to show it to my friend, who is also a cowgirl.

I just love this cookbook! It has great recipes with directions that are easy to follow. Only trouble is I enjoy reading all the stories and comments so much that I forget I'm looking for something good to cook up!
I'm ordering 2 more as gifts for my trail riding buddies!

The book was great,as soon as I received it I looked through the whole thing. It was fun to see some of the receipes of the stars and singer. I'm really enjoying the book, thanks.

I sent off and bought a signed copy of this from the writers. I collect cookbooks and this is one I always go for. It has a pie crust recipe I also use as dumplings and crust for chicken pot pies. It is super easy and tasty and their biscuit recipe can't be beat. It took me 3 tries before getting them perfected, but now everyone that has them loves them. The cookbook is also very interesting with the cowboy theme.

I bought this cookbook along with 4 or 5 other cowboy/chuck wagon style cookbooks on Amazon. Of them all, this one is by far the pick of the litter. It is not only filled with a whole bunch of finger licking good old time recipes from beans and bacon to trailside stew, but its also chock full of all kinds of rare pictures and facts about our favorite TV westerns and movies from televisions golden age. Its fun, interesting, delicious, and well worth your money. No wonder it has become hard to find. There isn't another like it here or anywhere else I have found. Dang burn it.....Go for it!!!!!

I have owned this cook book for 3 yrs. and purchased this one for a "man" Christmas gift. He will love it too! It has great food ideas and fun stories and pictures. Buy it & enjoy it!!!
