A little review of the band from Stillwater, OK,
By Cody (Adair, OK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All-American Rejects (Audio CD)
I went and seen these guys Oct. 15th at Curly's in Tulsa... and they were awesome. I'd say to compare them to The Hives and Blink 182, in the middle is where I put them. The 2 main members are Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler. The guys are very cool. They handed out free cd's at the concert at Curly's. The songs that stand out are: "Don't Leave Me", "Drive Away", "One More Sad Song", "The Last Song", "Too Far Gone", "Your Star", and the 1st single "Swing, Swing"... basically all of them. My favorite on the album is "The Last Song", as "Don't Leave Me", "My Paper Heart", and "Too Far Gone" are my favorites after listening to them a few times. One thing, is you need to buy this album... its great.

Awesome, simply awesome...,

I'm going to start off by saying how truly amazing this cd is. Ok, that being said..."All American Rejects" is at that inbetween ground between emo and pop-punk. They have the lyrical content and harmonies of Dashboard but combine keyboards and guitars and catchy tempos to make up 11 awesome songs. Songs on this cd are all really "mix-tape worthy". With lines like: I really really really recommend this cd. If you like Yellowcard, The Ataris, Rufio, The Starting Line or Dashboard, you'll love this!

I'm speechless...,

I'd never heard of the All-American Rejects untill a friend mentioned them. Soon after, I heard their single "Swing, Swing" on the radio. After hearing the first few chords, I immediately fell in love with this band. The lyrics are inspiring and the music is downright well-written! After hearing that one song on the radio, I went out and bought the CD and I've been listening to it ever since!

Definitely one of my favorite CDs!!,

Being from Oklahoma, I got to hear these guys before they started growing in popularity. I've had their CD for a while, and I still listen to it all the time. All of the songs are awesome and I can't get them out of my head after I listen to them (but why would I want to?). "Swing, Swing" is a great song, and I also love "Paper Heart" and "The Last Song." I will note that a lot of the songs are similar, but if it's your kind of music, you'll love the whole album. This is definitely a great CD!

Best CD By Far,

It isn't very often that hearing a song once makes me fall in love with a song or band. The first time I heard this band I knew I had to get the CD. I bought it the day it came out and listened to it continuosly from then on. Its a punkish emo band comparable to maybe a mix between Jimmy Eat World's beat and Dashboard Confessional's lyrics-but way better. It's not the type of CD where the one most popular song is the best song. The rest of the CD is just as good-better if you ask me. The songs are about the good and bad about love and relationships, but aren't too crazy or depressing at all. The lyrics are so greatly written you catch yourself singing to every song. I have been trying to get the name around and getting people to listen to the CD and EVERY person that I have introduced this band to has loved them. I saw them in concert the week after the CD came out and they were even better live. Their music is so easy to get into and the people there for other bands seemed more into AAR than the other bands that had played. Just when I thought I had found the best band in the world...I found The All American Rejects. They are by far the greatest out there.

An All-American Album,
By
This review is from: All-American Rejects (Audio CD)
Ever wonder how great albums are made? First, every song on the album is written at top notch. Tyson Ritter probably didn't have that in mind when he sat down to write out this 11-track, punk/emo/pop album. Fortunately, it happened. Every song on the album from 1-11 is poetically written and suffices as one of the greatest albums about girls. Nick Wheeler didn't help making it much worse, and his rockin' guitar licks and solos are off the wall. Okay, so maybe he is no Angus Young on guitar, or Neil Peart on drums, but you would be surprised what he can put out in watts. A lot of the drums is electronic which adds to the uniqueness this band has. Mix Dashboard Confessionals with any power pop group and you have something close to The All-American Rejects, for AAR really isn't a mixture of anything. They aren't made of elements. They made the elements and mixed them. Simply brilliant.

Not bad!,

I hate New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, etc. I love All American Rejects. What can I say? Instead of bands trying to sound like they're making music, every single one of AAR's songs just click. Everything works; the lyrics, the melodies, the vocals. Do not dismiss it as pop. It's one of those rare albums that appeals to a wide variety of audiences, except for those determined to hate it.

Alright, those of you who like stuff like New Found Glory, The Starting Line, or Dashboard Confessional, you WILL like this album. This conveys many aspects of heartbreak and loneliness, it helps me through those times and will help any person just as it helped me. I'm also a guitar player, and this album is fairly easy to play. The drum beats are catchy and the blending of acoustic and electric guitars are great. Some people will say that the album is not good because the singing is different, its unique and I enjoy it. THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS ROCK!!!

a good album,

Look, I could sit here and make statement after bold statement about the death and commericialization of punk music, the poppiness and product placements of modern rock. Without a doubt the All-American Rejects are a part of this. They're videos feature them in all there pre-pubescant homo-erotic glory, they are currently on a cell-phone corporate sponsored tour, and the name of the band leaves little to the imagination as to what kind of band they are. However, this band stands out, and they stand out immensely. Among a crowd of Ataris, New Found Glories, and Saves the Days, this band never seems to me annoy me the same way the other bands do. Lets take a look at what they are offering that the others are not. 1.) Blatantly Pop -- this band makes no quomes about being poppy and they do it well. Not all pop is bad, (remember Hall & Oates), it just has become that way lately. 2.) Good Songs & Good Formula -- The aformentioned bands all seem to have a stagnancy to their songs, the content is similar, as is the structure, it's predictable and they all run together. NOT THE CASE with All American Rejects. Their bold blatancy as a pop band allows them to craft songs that are catchy as hell, overproduced in a decent manner, and each stand out as there own. 3.) The Last Song - Need I say more? Yes this album is pop, yes it might not last, but as far as the dismal playing field of a genre they are in is concerned, they are the best, BY FAR THE BEST. The best pop/rock since Joe Jackson. Have fun and listen to Abraxas by Santana. |
