They Call Us Rendlemans,
This review is from: All Anybody Ever Wanted of Me Was to Work: The Memoirs of Edith Bradley Rendleman (Shawnee Books) (Hardcover)
First off I'd like to mention that I'm on my girlfriends account. Edith Rendleman is my great grandmother and I had the privelege of listening to her stories as a child. She left me a personalized copy of this book and I'm glad to see others enjoy this book as much as I have.

well worth it,
This review is from: All Anybody Ever Wanted of Me Was to Work: The Memoirs of Edith Bradley Rendleman (Shawnee Books) (Paperback)
I'm so glad this book is available again. I wanted to give a copy to my sister and wouldnt lend mine as it is one of my most valued books. Three things can be said of why I think so highly of the book. Foot notes and an introductory chapter give info on the times Edith lived and make the material more meaningful. Edith doesn't sugarcoat anything. We learn that some past living conditions were better than we have today, and some were worse. Thirdly, this lady was a small child when my grandfather left Union County as a young man. But he forever returned regularly and his ashes are scattered in the Pine Hills. I'm sure that he and Edith were related.

Edith and I share common ancestors. It is very gratifying to read "how it really was" for so many of my ancestors in Southern Illinois!
