5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, June 2, 2007

This review is from: It All Belongs to You: Unsung Cole Porter (Audio CD)
All of Hayford's albums are gems-- this one too. He shows some of his excellent piano chops too-- but it's really the vocals that shine. He has a very expressive and lithe tenor voice-- very reminiscent of Matt Denis at his best, and as always finds an interesting repertoire with several obscure Cole Porter songs, or a few well known ones with some alternative lyrics. Not every song is CP's best perhaps-- but fascinating anyway. Great performance.
I think Hayford is really Bobby Short's successor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Justin does it again, February 17, 2009

It All Belongs to You

Justin Hayford is quite the guy. I knew him years ago in his role as an AIDS activist and part-time college teacher. We've lost touch over the past few years, but with each CD he records I get to recommend his music and tell people, that I knew this guy before he was such a rising star. His choice of music is on the money, his vocals and piano work mesh tightly, and each song brings just a touch of his unique phrasing to be noticed, but he never bends a song too far from it's roots. This is another outstanding CD; congratulations JH. I guess I'll have to start telling my friends once again, that "I knew him when."
