I certainly hope this isn't the best from Portugal, because it's rather boring music. The recording is old, but I don't mind the bad quality. I just don't like the music or way the the music is done.Half the tracks are instrumental, by which I mean about one or two instruments trying to play a song that may sound good if not done poorly. The tracks with vocals... some of them are all right, but they sound like they were done with half effort. I know I'd like the song Saudade if redone by different performers, for instance. I love world music, so I was disappointed when this turned out so hard to listen to. Actually, I can tell you where to find better music -- the The Rough Guide to The Music of Portugal: The Rough Guide to Music (Rough Guide World Music CDs)

having a portuguese heritage, and very proud, this is not the music that i expected, it's very old sound, very old recordings, not of the best quality, not happy. The national songis called FADO this is not even close to it. In my opinion do not spend money on this compilation(the title on this cd is very misleading. |
