Fun and Fast Step & Weights,
By dusty (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All Cardio Step With Gay Gasper (DVD)
I'm an experienced stepper and own about 300+ workouts. I love to try new ones and keep only the ones that challenge me and are fun at the same time. This is one of them, however, it has a flaw in middle (more about that later). The step portion with warmup and cool-down is around 42 minutes. It is medium complex, but she doesn't break it down much, so for someone who has never done Seasun, Deirdre or Amy, it's probably too hard. I found that I could follow most of it the first time through, but combo #4 is a stumper. She doesn't start it like the others where she teaches a few basic variations before going into the complexer part, instead it starts with the completed combo. I'm not sure if this is an editing error, but it will definitely take you by surprise. Once you follow it a couple of times, though, you can catch on. The music is ok, but not as good as in some of her other DVDs, but the step routine in itself is fun.
The strength portion is about 20 minutes long and includes a quick stretch. It is short and very fast paced. To make it effective, heavier weights are needed, but you better know what you need quickly, because there is no time to get them. Overall, I liked it and it gave me a complete workout in about 62 minutes. It also includes several premixes, one of them is cardio & weights intervals which is a great option.

Too Fast,

You have to know all the steps and the pace is too fast during the warm-up. I think the moves are out-dated.
