5.0 out of 5 stars All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Saucepan - My Favorite Pan!
I love this pan so much I bought 2! The 3 quart saucepan is a perfect size, I use it at least once a day. It is excellent for boiling potatoes, squash, a pound of penne, sauce, reheating some sauce and meatballs etc. It is my favorite of all my All Clad pans. It is made very well, is easy to clean, heats evenly and is designed to last. All Clad cookware is one of the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Sorry, don't like it
Yes, the stainless steel is good, it performs well, but the pan is awful to use. It has no pouring lip for sauces so they slosh everywhere, and what's with that ghastly handle? I am very strong, yet I find the pan very heavy to carry when full. The handle is uncomfortable and very long (to keep it less hot), which makes it awkward on the stove and to hold. I do use a...

All Clad cookware is one of the most expensive lines around and it is worth every penny, it really is lifetime cookware. This saucepan is a definite must have. Very, very highly recommended! A+++!

Also, if you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Goes The Distance..., April 20, 2001

I have had stainless all-clad products ever since husband #2 (a professional chef) and will use nothing else. The three quart is extremely versatile, especially if you also have the steamer insert. My all-clad saucepans are over 10 years old, but look as good as new and cook incredibly evenly on both gas and electric ranges. I never need to use a potholder, which is very convenient. If you use the good stuff, you only need a few saucepans and you will literally NEVER have to replace them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've been using this pan for 15 years., December 30, 2004

This has been my favorite pan for 15 years, and my wife and I both cook a lot. About 10 years ago we got tired of handwashing things, so we've been putting these in the dishwasher since then.

It distributes heat well, and the handle stays cool. I've been using All-Clad so long that when I recently used another brand whose handle got hot I practically dropped it in shock. A warm handle? Is that possible?

I can tell that this pan is not new anymore. It has very faint spots about the size of a pencil-eraser on the inside surface.

Based on my experience, this pot will last for at least 50 years and maybe 100.

There may be other cookware this good, but I don't see how there could be any that's better.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best starter piece, December 2, 2004

If you can only afford one pan of All-Clad Stainless, this is the one to get. It's wide enough (8 inches) to function as a small saute pan (ample one-dish meals for one or two, or a few scambled eggs) and deep enough to function as a small soup pot, or even fulfill its original function as a saucepan (veggies, pasta, etc.)

And if you wish to get the All-Clad double boiler or the vegetable steamer, this is your foundation piece.

This doesn't seem to be included in any of the current "sets" of All-Clad stainless, so chances are you'll have to get it separately anyhow.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the line cookware, January 3, 2002

Heavy cast or rolled aluminum is the optimum material for pots and pans. Based on this fact, Magnalite cast aluminum gourmet cookware was the best you could get from about the 1950's through the '70's. However, there are some problems with aluminum as a cooking surface. Some foods react with it and cause discoloration; it's hard to clean, a fact that became glaringly obvious with the advent of non-stick surfaces. And there have been reported health issues related to cooking food in contact with aluminum (experts currently assess the risks as insignificant).

All-Clad is the heir apparent to the position of "creme de la creme" among cookware. The inner layer of metal is aluminum to evenly conduct heat throughout the pan. The cooking surface is stainless steel, the ideal surface because it is non-reactive, easy cleaning, and more durable than nonstick compounds. All Clad offers a variety of exterior finishes to suit your taste. Finally, this line is WELL BUILT. It will outlast anything else in the kitchen.

This may be the most expensive cookware but it's also the best. For a person who doesn't have the physical strength to handle very heavy cookware, this may not be a good choice. For anyone else who is willing to pay for it, this is what you want to cook with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality, October 21, 2005

I'm usually cooking for one, so I use this pan mostly with a steamer insert. It's a good, heavy pot with a stay cool handle. Heats very evenly and quickly.

All Clad quality is the best. There is more expensive cookware out there, but All Clad delivers the same high quailty at a lower (but not cheap)price. All Clad is an investment. I don't plan on owning another set of pots.

I love the stainless finish because it is dishwasher safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lotsa Pasta, February 22, 2004
This review is from: All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Saucepan (Kitchen)
For a family with a child who can't get enough pasta (no sauce, just cheese), or for anyone who wants to entertain a small party, this durable 3-quart saucepan is exceptional. All-Clad makes quality cookware with professional materials and thoughtful design. The materials and weight ensure even heat distribution, non-scorching, and a cool handle. All-Clad products, I believe, offer more long-term value than other cookware: They're durable, perform well, and are surprisingly easy to clean.

There's also an All-Clad steamer insert available at a very low price. I don't have it yet, but the helpful reviews here have persuaded me that it would be a useful addition.

What needs to be said about an All-Clad product other than they are one of the best on the market? This is a nice weighty piece that conducts heat evenly. A great addition to my other pieces. Highly recommend.

We love our All Clad pans. They heat and cook evenly. We use this large saucepan for big batches of rice, boiling pasta, cooking vegetables etc. We like it so much better than our old saucepans that I just ordered the All Clad 1 1/2 qt. saucepan today.
