1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of All-Clad not made in US
All-Clad pieces made in China are not the same quality as All-Clad pieces made in the US. I have a set whose pieces were all made in the US and they are wonderful. I bought some of these "teaser" pieces to supplement my set and they were awful--hard to believe that All-Clad even put their name on them. We bought 20 of these li'l darlins for the saute' line at work and procceded to attempt their destruction and rapid demise...to no avail. They do a great job on our 500 degree flat top and over our ring burners as well. We cook quickly and efficiently so perhaps our style helps us avoid the previously mentioned problems...(for omlettes/frittatas we do use the 8" non stick version). Crepes...no problem. The adonized finish has held up well after 6 months and hundreds of trips through our commercial dishmachine...don't try that at home...it voids the warranty.

We like 'em!!!

caveat...the stainless or MC2 line would have better suited our needs in the potsink as these don't like to be scrubbed with steel scrubbies...hence 4 mojo*z instead of 5

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate small stainless steel frying pan, November 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: All-Clad LTD 7-1/2 Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I like nice stuff, I love to cook, and I'm also a bargain hunter. I bought this one after deciding that non-stick pans are less than perfect. Nonstick stuff does not last forever, and can even be unhealthy if you use high heat. On the other hand, stainless steel stuff can make things easy to burn and hard to clean.

Well, because of the layer of aluminum in the middle of this pan, the heat on the pan is VERY EVEN all the way up the sides of the pan, which means no hot spots, which means things are NOT easy to burn (you can burn stuff if you try hard enough). Also, since things don't tend to burn in this pan, that makes it easier to clean. Sure, there are times to let it soak overnight to make it easier. But if you do soak, it's really not hard to clean at all. For lower heat cooking, soaking not necessary. Also, you have the option of using a tougher cleaning implement without harming it. Also turns out fine in the dishwasher if you haven't started to scorch things. The price on this item was quite low when I got it (compared to the larger pots/pans) and very very very much worth it. I would love to get more cookware like this... in fact I have one other all-clad item but won't go into details here (it's also a good one). This pan turns out to be one of the frequently used pans in my kitchen.

All-Clad pieces made in China are not the same quality as All-Clad pieces made in the US. I have a set whose pieces were all made in the US and they are wonderful. I bought some of these "teaser" pieces to supplement my set and they were awful--hard to believe that All-Clad even put their name on them. The only difference is that the cheap pieces were made in China so who knows, this may not be the reason why they were bad but it's the only thing I can go on. If you buy them at the store, the box will be clearly marked "Made in China" or "Made in the USA."

If people think all All-Clad pieces are similar to the cheap ones made in China, they are wrong. But unfortunately All-Clad will lose many (potential) fans with these teaser pots and pans.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Passionate Gourmet, October 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: All-Clad LTD 7-1/2 Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I am a man of 63years, curcumstance has me on my own and learning to cook at this ripe old age. I completely emptied my cabinets in the kitchen and decided I needed new "tools". I have outfitted my kitchen based on the kind people who took the time to write an honest appraisel of the products they have purchased. If you are the kind of cook who turns the burner of the stove on high, plops the food in the pan, and scrapes it out with any thing handy, I suggest you eat out often. However if you have the desire to use and prepare your food with the best, buy this pan and you will never regret it. The fact that it is made in China does not affect the quality at all.. I only wish I could now find a woman as beautiful, functional, dependable and affordable as this pan. Meanwhile I have my all clad.
UPDATE: I FIND IT NECESSARY TO APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE WHO BOUGHT THIS PAN ON MY INTIAL RECOMMENDATION. AFTER A MONTH OF USE THIS PAN HAS BECOME A PURE NUISCANCE. FOOD STICKS AND SURE YOU CAN GET IT CLEAN BY SOAKING OR USING BAR KEEPERS FRIEND AND A DOBIE PAD BUT WHY WORK THAT HARD WHEN THE ... SET OF FABERWARE PANS PUT THIS TO SHAME. YES IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BARGAIN ... BUT WHEN SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK IT'S NOT A VALUE AT ANY PRICE. NO I DO NOT COOK ON HIGH HEAT AND I HAND WASH EVERYTHING. I CANNOT NOT RECCOMEND YOU BUY THIS PAN UNLESS YOU JUST HAVE TO OWN AN ALL CLAD, I LEARNED MY LESSON DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great value, February 4, 2006
This review is from: All-Clad LTD 7-1/2 Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
This pan is a great value. Sure, it's a little small, but you can see that when you order (it's only 7 1/2", not 12", after all). I've had two of these pans for four years now, and they're wonderful. Buy these, and buy the 12" one too. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite pan, January 18, 2006
This review is from: All-Clad LTD 7-1/2 Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I only have one All-Clad pan (I'd like to have more). I love this little pan. I use it all the time for cooking different things: a hamburger, some linguicia (portuguese sausage), and eggs. I use some canola oil in it for something that might stick (such as an egg). I have NO problem cleaning it at all! As soon as I am done frying something, I put some water in the pan. Whatever might be stuck to it comes right off...even better than with a non-stick surface. Having used 'cheap' pans my whole life, it was amazing the difference it makes using a pan that works the way it should. It makes cooking fun! Love my little pan.

I thought this looked like a nice pan - so I thought I would give it a try. WOW - It cooks and cleans up like a dream. I ordered another one for myself - and one for my friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pan!, November 8, 2007
This review is from: All-Clad LTD 7-1/2 Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I love this little pan ... perfect for making omelettes. I purchased this to replace my old teflon non-stick pan. All you need to do is spray some oil before cooking and it doesn't stick at all. I don't know what other people are doing, but my eggs slide right out of the pan and cleanup is a cinch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little piece at a "teaser" price!, March 30, 2005

I have to say that I am very happy with my All-Clad Ltd pieces, including this little fry pan. Because of the price, I picked up this one and the 1 qt. sauce pan to give them a try. My family used to cook with the all ss line so I knew that these would be quality and I was not let down. Yes, stainless is more difficult to cook with, but have you tried hard anodised pots? impossible. That's why my equally beautiful (IMO) Calphalon professional pots are looking great as kitchen decorations and not much else. Your food will only burn if you are not paying attention to it. If you are having this problem, try non-stick, so you can go do whatever else it is you want to do other than paying attention to your food. If you are looking for top quality cookware that is oven safe, lasts a lifetime, and demands a little more care from the chef......this is it.
