Product Description

Amazon.com Review

The second generation of All-Clad's Master Chef line (MC2), this cookware combines brushed aluminum with stainless-steel accents for a contemporary look. Like All-Clad's other renowned cookware collections, Master Chef provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the brushed aluminum exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The interior is highly polished so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. Handles, rivets, and tight-fitting lids are all gleaming stainless steel.

This classic straight-sided 3-1/2-quart saucepan illustrates the Master Chef line's stylish yet practical design. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly in the pan, even though it's 4 inches deep. And because the interior is nonreactive, tomato-based sauces and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel pan and lid handles are riveted for strength and grooved on the top for comfort. The long handle (holed for hanging on a hook or peg) stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. Master Chef cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

Product Description

Preparing gravies and sauces is a breeze with All-Clad's sauce pan. Designed with a classical sloped shape, the pan is unsurpassed in aesthetics and in quality. Attractively designed and incredibly tough, this piece is constructed of three layers of metal; a brushed aluminum alloy beautifully complements the polished, 18/10 stainless steel interior that provides the ideal cooking surface that can even withstand tough use of metal utensils. These two layers combined with a pure aluminum core produce exemplary heat distribution while eliminating hot spots and create a light weight piece that can be used in the oven and under the broiler. The long, stay-cool handle is riveted to the side of the pan for extra strength and durability, and helps prevent burns. This handle is designed with a small indentation so it can be hung for convenient storage. Also included is a stainless steel lid that holds in heat and steam to create succulent and juicy meals.

Producing some of the finest cookware in the nation, All-Clad has been featured in many high class and gourmet restaurants for its superior performance and aesthetically designed pieces crafted from American artists using the finest metals. A firm believer in quality over convenience, All-Clad's metals are formulated and bonded with cooking performance in mind, and are combined with stunning designs to provide you with the best cooking experience possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Classicly Functional Design. Buy It., April 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All-Clad Mc2 Master Chef 2 3-1/2-Quart Saucepan (Kitchen)
I bought this product to replace tow others, a 40 year old Revere thin-skinned stainless steel 3 quart pot and a 10 year old Calphalon anodized Aluminum 3 quart pot, and to supplement a similar Master Chef 2 3 quart saucier. This gem fills every requirement by being better than the two pans it replace and by doing better at its apointed tasks than the broader saucier. It distributes heat much better than the thin steel and it is both lighter, stronger, easier to clean, and less prone to denting than the old anodized aluminum product. I picked this particular All-Clad line because it is the products used on 'Iron Chef', and I figured that if it was good enough for Bobby and Mario and Masaharu, it was good enough for me. It has not let me down. It heats fast and evenly, and it is an excellent size for most common cooking tasks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the price discourage you, May 5, 2010
This review is from: All-Clad Mc2 Master Chef 2 3-1/2-Quart Saucepan (Kitchen)
Every time I used this sauce pan, I am reminded of the craftsman ship of All-Clad and never regret spending the money on something so crucial to my cooking needs. The size of the saucepan is absolutely perfect for any job that isn't small and highly recommend it for all your kitchen's needs; for most kitchens, I recommend a 2 and 4 qt saucepan (I actually have a 3.5 qt). I don't need to say how perfect it cooks food because that's a given with all of All-Clad's products.

The only con is the hefty price tag which, I have to admit, is a little high. I encourage all readers of this review to realize that when you buy a piece of equipment this high quality, you will buy a saucepan that will last you for the rest of your life.

I admit it's hard to realize that it will last that long - especially for someone as relatively young as I - and hard to admit that I should stop focusing on the price tag - especially for someone who isn't exactly "rolling it" like me - but I can't be more happy after realizing that I'm basically set for life.

To contradict myself however, I would honestly prefer the MC2 line over the Stainless because of the price. The only difference between the two lines is the external finish of the product - they still share the same cooking qualities. So with that, I would highly recommend this product because it will still last as long and cook just as good as the more expensive line.

If your kitchen needs a saucepan for any job that isn't small and want a product that will last you for life, then buy this item.

I was excited to own my first All-Clad pot until I used it. The handle has sharp edges that cut into your hand when you pick this pot up and pour food out. This pot is too expensive to have a bad handle, I have buyers remorse.
