5.0 out of 5 stars A Smaller, Useful Pan, June 16, 2005
This review is from: All-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
After getting the 10-inch version of this pan, I found a great deal on the 8-inch pan and picked it up for smaller jobs in the kitchen. This was a great decision.

8 inches *is* small for a lot of cooking and this shouldn't be your primary fry pan but it is great for doing smaller jobs on the side or for cooking up things for one or two people. I use this guy for eggs, meat and more. The pan heats really evenly and feels great in my hand. The handle does a great job of dispersing heat and staying cool, too. And, though it doesn't come with a lid, the medium lid from the All Clad pots fit it well.

When things do stick, I don't worry about attacking it and scratching off the surface. I can use a scraper, sponge, or scouring pad without any problems. Metal can be used but it is more likely to scratch. And it is safe in the dishwasher although I recommend handwashing as much as possible.

Some cooking tips I learned with this type of pan: Use a lower heat, not because you have to (like with non-stick), but because it heats so evenly, you often don't need that higher temperature. Also when you throw something in, whether you are using butter, oil, a spray, or nothing, let it sit and cook a bit before you try to move it around. Hamburger, for example, will adhere to the pan at first and if you try stirring it up right away, small pieces will be stuck and are more likely to burn. Rather, wait until it has a minute or two to cook on that side. The parts that adhere will cook, separate and lift away from the pan so you can stir it easier. And when you are done, if there is any food stuck to the pan, put some water in it and let it boil for a few minutes. This will help lift it off and make cleaning easier.

Again, a great pan, a great brand, and definitely worth the money since it will last you a lifetime with the warranty they give you.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-Clad Stainless 8" Fry Pan, July 1, 2001

This small frypan is my main item. I cook for myself only (usually) and if anyone out there wants to try out the All-Clad line of cookware, this is the one to start with. Once you do, you, as I, will want to expand your collection of this superior product. You can get messy with it; you can make a mistake & have the heat too high, you can even leave it in the sink uncleaned for a day or two.....it will still clean up easily and look brand new. As stated in the ads, the handles really do stay cool; that's a nice change of pace! Not to mention the fact that the company is still in business; the lifetime guarantee really means something! Did I forget to say that this cookware is simply "beautiful?"

For most home chefs, All-Clad is the superior line of cookware. All-Clad stainless steel fry pans are excellent because they conduct heat so well. This 8-Inch pan is a good try-me size. I use it when cooking for myself or for making a 2-3 egg omelette.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fry pan., August 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: All-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
This is a great fry pan. It *is* heavy, but it's an excellent pan, especially for 2-3 egg omlettes. It cleans up nicely, but it will get scratched, so be careful what tools you use with it. It came as part of a larger All-Clad stainless set, but I liked it so much, and it's very convenient size, I bought another one.

My wife has said she always wanted some high quality cookware. I bought her this one piece of All Clad for her birthday as start. She loves it. I like to use it too. It is a fry pan that does not have teflon coating, but follow the directions furnished and you will have not rouble keeping it clean. It cooks very fast and even on a very low heat setting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but a couple of things, December 10, 2010

I really want to like this pan more than I honestly do. The pan (8" fry pan) was shipped promptly and arrived in good condition. So, no complaints there. But although the pan performs well in many ways (as others have stated), it is lighter than I expected (which, for some people, may be a plus over the heavier high end cookware) and (as another reviewer mentioned) the handle, I find, is very uncomfortable. I'd prefer a smoother handle that doesn't dig into my hand in the wrong places. I expect if you have a certain size hand and/or grip your pan differently, this may work great, but it doesn't work well for me. Maybe, overall, it's that my comparison with other high end cookware has thrown me off. Again, this is a very good pan for cooking, living up to all the things others have reported. But, having heard all the raves about All-Clad, and finally buying my first pan (to try the brand), I don't think I'll buy others because, for me anyway, it's just not the best fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE IS GOOD, TWO ARE BETTER, August 25, 2008

I thoroughly enjoy these 8" frypans. I own TWO. My husband likes 'sunny-side-up' eggs and I prefer lighly scrambled. I prepare both pans by melting very small amounts of equal parts oil (oil keeps the butter from burning & butter (butter gives the eggs a nice flavor) . While his eggs are frying, I am scrambling mine. Clean up is easy. While we have our breakfast the pans are soaking in soapy water, and by the time we are finished and clearing the table the pans are ready for washing. Cooked egg slips off easily, pan is shiny, and I am happy. Preparing a non-stick pan before cooking is key, and when it's done properly the pan behaves as a non-stick.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Breakfast and Lunch Pan, October 21, 2005

I usually cook for one and this pan is just the right size for a couple slices of bacon, sausage or a burger. I also use it when infusing oil.

All Clad provides superior heat technology for quick and even heating. The stay-cool handle is a plus. It's a nice and heavy pan. Cleans up quickly in the dishwasher. A little Bar Keeper's Friend keeps it looking like new.

I am a firm believer in All Clad quality. I'm in my 30s and this is the last set of pots and pans I'll buy. I was sold on All Clad after my first use.

Best little can do pan ever! After purchasing the 7 pc set from Macys I realized that the 12" pan is just too big for everyday use. I remebered thet Warehouse Deals/Amazon also carried All Clad, so I did my search and up came a 8" pan for $25.99 (approx) Easy enough, just click and it was on its way. Highly recomend All Clad to all my friends, as if they didn't already know that they make the best in cookware.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, am so happy with it, August 8, 2007
This review is from: All-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I bought this pan couple of weeks ago. I used it twice. I am really impressed with it. I thought it would be too hard to clean. I WAS WRONG. It's easy to clean especially if you use oil or butter (I never used Al-Clad fry pan without oil so I have no idea how does it without oil). I wash it right after done cooking.
I noticed that it does not heat fast, but food stay hot for long time after cooking (in the pan). When I decided to buy All-Clad frying pan I was thinking of buying non-stick one. Then I changed my mind after reading some reviews about All-clad non-stick surface. I said: Why to pay so much for non-stick when it's easy to scratch like any other non-stick. Great buy. Am glad I bought it.
