My mother had a squared-off spoon ever since I can remember. It is great for cooking, getting the corners of the pots, and completely covers the bottom of the pan! No need to use a spatula and a spoon with this one! I have been looking for years to find one for myself and am greatful to find one here. I would encourage all cooks of all ages and experience to get one for themself and anyone they know!

As others have noted, the flat spoon allows greater coverage on the bottom when stirring. I use on All-Clad and have not noticed the scratching that one rater did. It is a study spoon - I don't have any trouble stirring a huge pot of stew,

Larger than needed for most tasks, its size comes in handy when working with stock or pots full of food. And that's also when its heft and strength come in play. Feels great in your hand, I bent it slightly straighter for my cooking. This is a fantastic tool to have at hand in the kitchen. Will last a lifetime, or several!

I have just about every kitchen tool they make but had never bought a square spoon before. Now I ask myself WHY??? Perhaps because I did not have one when I learned to cook but this has now become my very favorite kitchen tool for stirring and mixing, especially hearty soups, casseroles, stews and sauces. It is great for serving also as it holds a good sized portion. It is solid and sturdy and the shape is a great positive when needing the scrape the bottom of the pot to make sure nothing sticks while cooking. It has the wonderful All-Clad quality that will last forever and even looks great in your tool jar on the counter.

I bought this All-Clad stainless spoon and was very excited to use it but it was very disappointing (and heartbreaking!) I used it on my brand new All-Clad stainless pan and it scratched up the pan really bad with just one time of light use! Hence, I have put this spoon away b/c I don't want to ruin any of my other metal pots and pans. I guess I could use it to serve but it defeats the purpose of me spending this $$ on it.

This spoon looks nice but it is very heavy. My arm got tired from using it to stir-fry. I don't recommend buying it. Cooking shouldn't be this painful. =(
