Shoddy Workmanship,

Just got the fork, and it looked good at first. Sturdy. Stainless steel. The design is good. Not much curvature in the tines, but usable. Then I noticed that the tines were not sharp, even a little. I looked closer at the tines. The tips had been ground off flat with an electric grinder. There were heat discolorations at the tips from the rough grinding operation. It's not usable as received. It would be like trying to pierce meat with a flat punch or a screw driver.
The tines are different sizes. One is larger than the other: an eighth of an inch longer and about a sixteenth of an inch wider. The outside surfaces are polished, but the inside surfaces of the tines are rough, as though from casting. The roughness and the flat tips would tear the meat, not penetrate smoothly. This shows very bad QC. Not what I expected from All-Clad, even if it is made in China. I may just use a file and a stone on it to make it usable. Or maybe just send it back. Probably the latter.

All-Clad Stainless Fork
The All-Clad stainless fork is exactly what it says it is: a sturdy fork that holds up to the toughest and heaviest meat. It is somewhat plain looking although functional. I think the handle could be heftier as it it slightly awkward to hold when carving meat due to the shape. However, the All-Clad fork seems to be a good value for what it is made to do: holds tough and heavy meat while carving. I have purchased several other carving forks which have not stood up to time. The tines on these other carving forks have all become bent, making the carving fork unbecoming and difficult to use. The All-Clad carving fork has thicker tines that do not bend. Although I only own the fork about 3 weeks now, I have used it at least six times. The tines appear to be build to last longer than other carving forks priced similarly. If you want a fork that looks more elegant and has a thicker handle and are willing to pay more for these differences, then go for a more expensive fork. I would recommend buying the All-Clad carving fork if you want a sturdy carving fork for a low price, which is what I was looking for. The fork was a very good value for the price I paid ($22.00 on Amazon.com). No other forks at that price range appeared to offer the features of this fork.

This fork is great for use with roasts and for carving...its heafty size makes it an excellent tool for the big jobs. Easy grip handle is also a plus.
