An excellent textbook for group or one-on-one lessons,

I've been teaching English in Japan for 11 years, and there are really only three ESL publications I can recommend as intelligent, good-value, entertaining and well-conceived: Passport Blue (the others are awful), Business Initiatives (lamentably out of print) and All Clear! Advanced/Intro. You might feel a little overwhelmed by how densely-packed the material in these books is, and the illustrations are a tad cheesy, but go to a bookshop and drool over them for a while and I'm pretty sure you'll be chortling at your good luck as you cart home as many copies as you can afford ... or you can just trust me and order one now.

Great common idioms, with very good practice. Very popular with my students. Each set of idioms comes with conversation models, very sufficient definitions with examples, activities, pronounciation, and good discussion activities using the idioms.
