5.0 out of 5 stars Celtic traditions meet the new millennium
This disc was my introduction to the Young Dubliners, and I was interested in it because of its largely traditional, or at least very Irish, selections. Many have been done by their namesake, the Dubliners, and there's no question that these young'uns are worthy successors to the elder band. If the Young Dubliners are the sons of the Dubliners, the Pogues are their...

1.0 out of 5 stars Keep up the Tradition
The Dubs to cover well known Irish songs.

The Young Dubliners have covered some of these songs on thier previous albums. Earlier versions of Rocky Road to Dublin and Ashley Falls are far superior on their "Rocky Road" Cd as well as Follow Me Up to Carlow and Foggy Dew From "Breathe"

Take one listen to The Foggy Dew on "Breathe" and hear the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Celtic traditions meet the new millennium, March 14, 2007
This review is from: With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions (Audio CD)
This disc was my introduction to the Young Dubliners, and I was interested in it because of its largely traditional, or at least very Irish, selections. Many have been done by their namesake, the Dubliners, and there's no question that these young'uns are worthy successors to the elder band. If the Young Dubliners are the sons of the Dubliners, the Pogues are their older brothers. This is real Celtic music that rocks out. Still, they are more tuneful and, as they proclaim, respectful of that which came before--- which distances them a bit from their Irish rock cousins Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly (at least on this album-- not a knock on the latter 2 bands, just a difference). They also cover the slower or gentler tunes with equal aplomb (Raglan Road, for instance, is beautifully portrayed but still very much a Young Dubliners song-- as well as a Dubliners song). But it's the rave-ups that get you from the get-go. This is THE album to get for this St. Paddy's Day. Or for any day in the year, for that matter. If you love your celtic music, but want it with a modern kick, this is as good as it gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars This cd Rawkkkksssss., February 20, 2007

Not only does this cd rock, but these are some of the most talented musicians I have ever heard or seen. I've had the opportunity to see them play at several St. Paddy's Day Festivals and they are amazing. This cd absolutely shows their talents and their interpretations of these Irish covers is poetic. Whatever you do, put the music on LOUD.....that's how it's meant to be heard....

5.0 out of 5 stars Irish music with a distinctly modern twist, January 30, 2009
This review is from: With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions (Audio CD)
The Young Dubliners was formed in 1988 by two young Dubliners, then living in Santa Monica, California. Their sound is a fusion of pop music and traditional Irish music, which really rocks. With All Due Respect is the bands latest release, and their sound has really come together great.

I found this to be a great album, a really good Irish mix, with I'll Tell Me Ma being my absolute favorite. So, if you like Irish music, and want to hear it with a distinctly modern twist, then get this album. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good alternate versions of their best songs, January 24, 2008

I've seen them live a few times - there's nothing that will compare to seeing this excellent band live - but this album recaps some of the great traditional songs done in a slightly more acoustic format. They are a stellar band regardless if you like the irish aspect - they are tight band that plays their hearts out and write great songs. I recommend every album - breathe and rocky road were my favorites but newer releases like absolutely, red and real world have kept up the high level of songwriting and energy. The amount of passion the lead singer belts songs out with is just astounding.

4.0 out of 5 stars With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions, August 6, 2007
This review is from: With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions (Audio CD)
I saw the Young Dubs a month or so ago on a whim. They were playing a show by my house and decided to just go check them out.
I really like this band, they are a lot along the lines of Blood Or Whiskey but a bit less rough sounding vocally.
With All Due Respect, The Irish Sessions is a very good album. You get some Pogues covers along with a lot of traditional Irish songs but with thier own style melded into it all.
I really like their rendition of If I fall from the Grace of God (Pogues), the Young Dubs added thier own little hook into it which just makes it really pop.

This is a good album, if you like The Pogues, Blood or Whiskey, ect you will very much enjoy this album.

I have had the pleasure of seeing the Dubliners play life almost from the get go. This album is a welcome return to their roots- and pays a wonderful homage to those great Irish songs we all know and love. They put their own distinct and delicious tilt onto each track. Sure I love The Pogues- and The Clancy Brothers- and...(The list goes on and on) It isn't a contest...There are/were many great Irish bands...And the Dubs are definitely one of the better ones.

My granddaugter had an Irish dance recital to the tune 'I'll Tell Me Ma' and it was delightful. I bought the CD for her to enjoy, and she loves all the songs, as do we.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Covers, January 8, 2009
Sublime to listen to, every track is enjoyable. Similar to Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, it's hard rocking traditional Irish music.

5 stars all the way.

As per usual the Dubbies turn out a great album. I loved the traditional roots of this cd with the Dubbies take on them. My favorites are Foggy Dew and Tell Me Ma.
