2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money
For a book about rocket scientists, this was pretty dumb.

The plot is incredibly uneven and drags on and on. I wanted this book to get the point, but it never does. The "mole" out to sabotage the missle defense system is obvious from the beginning, but does anyone do anything about it? No. Julia (the heroine) is being stalked by her ex-husband, does she tell...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting work, September 28, 2000
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Dr. Julia Warner-Hyde fled the Air Force when her abusive stalking husband Karl tried to kill her. Julia now teaches first grade in the Panhandle town of Grace, Alabama. Out of the blue, her covert past returns when Dr. Seth Holt arrives to ask her to help.

An unknown enemy has stolen the Rogue Missile System that both of them worked on together. His latest work, Project Home Base, an anti-missile system that reverses the enemy launch returning it to attack its own home pad, is seemingly in jeopardy from an insider stealing the technology. Seth believes millions of lives are at stake. He needs Julia's help to finish the current project and uncover the identity of a traitor in order to stop a potential catastrophe from happening...

When it comes to military romance, Vicki Hinze is a four-star-general. Her latest thriller ALL DUE RESPECT will bring the author more respect as one of the sub-genre's leading lights. The story line never slows down, as the plot seems to gain speed with every paragraph. The lead couple is a warm, intelligent duo who makes the tale plausible. With novels like this one, ACTS OF HONOR, DUPLICITY, and SHADES OF GRAY that blend a military thriller with a romance, Ms. Hinze has become a member of the sub-genre's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing Romantic Thriller, February 3, 2001
By
Sue Weinert (Richmond, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book by Ms. Hinze I have read and I was very impressed. Julia and Seth are great people with very human problems and pasts. They struggle to heal themselves from abusive pasts and to save the country from a cult whose leader will stop at nothing to gain supremacy over the US government. I was expecially impressed with the growth and healing of Julia. She is a smart woman who still must struggle with the nightmare of an abusive marriage. She reaches deep into herself to find the courage and strength to face her abuser and to trust enough to love again. The relationship between Seth and the boy Jeff is touching. Seth relives his own abuse as a child as he helps Jeff escape torment from a father who never wanted him. This is a fast-paced thriller, very nicely written, and I will definitely be reading other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit for Hinze, January 12, 2001
By
Vicki Patterson (Panama City, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Once again Vicki Hinze hits the mark as a master of the contempary miliary romance. ALL DUE RESPECT is set at a fictional Air Force Base in north Florida where testing on missle technology is in full swing. Seth Hold is one of the genius' who has developed a war missle and has asked his old friend Julia Warner-Hyde to help finish developing the system. Julia agrees to return to research from her teaching position, but carries with her the scars of her former marriage. Her ex-husband abused her and almost killed her and now that he is out of jail, he is stalking her. Also, one of her students, Jeff, is a child in need of love and understanding and she hates to loose him. Seth volunteers to help look after the child and protect him from his abusive father. At the lab, the worse happens. The technology they are working on has been duplicated and stolen. The pressure from the CIA is enormous and at the same time the pressure from Julia's ex-husband and Jeff is getting more than Julia can handle. The more Seth help in each situation, the closer they become until finally they confess their feelings toward each other. What a story! The twists and turns are fascinating as Vicki Hinze takes you through the world of intrigue. She always seems to stay a little ahead of the game so you never just exactly see what is coming to make a riveting story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another bestseller for Vicki Hinze!, October 20, 2000
By
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Vicki Hinze just keeps getting better and better. Nobody combines honor, heroism, and flat-out, pulse-pounding suspense the way she does. ALL DUE RESPECT lingered with me long after I finished the last page. Now how long must I wait for the next book?

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read has emotion and action, May 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms Hinze is right up there with Ludlum, Kellerman, and Koontz (without the supernatural stuff). Her stories are edgy and exciting. The biggest difference is that she brings in a strong emotional element like the fact that the woman in this story was a victim of domestic violence. Someone looking for all action and no characterization might give this a 4 instead of a 5 but its the characters and what makes them tick that makes Ms Hinze's book extra extra special. I've already preordered her next novel and can't wait to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yep, Rocket Science meets Abused Heroine, March 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
As an aeronautical engineer (rocket scientist to some), I enjoyed this book. Author is right on target with the technical areas. Also Hinze brought up some good points on domestic violence and the way it can effect a person that I had not previously considered. Good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, September 28, 2000
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Nobody combines emotional intensity with riveting suspense as well as Vicki Hinze. I couldn't put this book down. Gut-wrenching, heartwarming, uplifting, inspiring, and at times even frightening, ALL DUE RESPECT has it all. I never miss Hinze's books, and this one just reaffirms my faith in this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific book, terrible cover!, October 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
Don't judge this book by its awful cover--the story is wonderful, full of suspense and a little romance, and all of Hinze's usual edge-of-your-seat elements. I never ever miss anything she writes. ... --I couldn't tell much about the cover ... based on Hinze's reputation for a consistently good read. If I'd seen it in bookstores, I would never have bought it. I'm glad I did! Too bad the publisher fell asleep when it came to art work. ... .

5.0 out of 5 stars Another MUST read from Hinze!, October 28, 2002
This review is from: All Due Respect (Mass Market Paperback)
I first discovered this wonderful author in a chat on America Online where she shared her wisdom with a group of writers. I read SHADES OF GRAY and absolutely loved the complicated twists and turns of the plot with the romance subplot going on at the same time.

ALL DUE RESPECT doesn't disappoint. It's written with the same engaging style and intelligence as SHADES OF GRAY. Vicki Hinze's strength is her characters. I care about what happens to them.

The plot is suspenseful and carries the reader along as well. I highly recommend this book and I don't say that often these days.

Good job, Ms. Hinze! I can't wait for the next release.
