Piebald has grown, that's for sure, and I'm glad they got more creative with this album. However, they definitely still have the same catchiness I heard when I first listened to "We Are The Only Friends"... This is the kind of album that grows on you. Really, because the new album is a bit different stylistically, you should be able to find something you like. My favorite tracks from it currently: The Benefits of Ice Cream, Human Taste Test, Haven't Tried It, and Part of Your Body Is Made of Rock. Travis's voice still sounds great (Put Your Slippers On Instead comes to mind). Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews; give "All Ears" a try.

Listen to each song more than once, they grow on you because they are AWESOME!,

O.K., nobody said piebald was a regular cookie cutter band. They are orignal. First, you need to hear these piebald songs: American Hearts, Part of your body is made out of rock, Just a simple plan, I haven't tried it, and get old or die trying. After these songs grow on you, you understand their style, then the rest of their stuff will grow on you. The more you hear them, the more you can't get them out of your head. It's awesomely horrible. My dad is 40 and I'm 17. Piebald is one of the few bands that we agree on. If you don't like emo/indie/punkrock type of music, you probally won't like these guys, but if you're like me and love this genre of music, you'll fall in love.

A Consistently Good Sound,

This album seems to evolve past "We Are The Only Friends We Have" and at the same time draw from "Venetian Blinds". It moves away from the more poppy sound of "Friends" and indulges their creative side. So what if it doesn't sound exactly like all their previous stuff? Who wants to hear the same thing twice? From "The Benefits of Ice Cream" to "The Song That Launched 1,000 Ships" and "All Senses Lost", this is the most consistent and inventive Piebald album to date. Travis' vocals are a nice break from the streamlined whiny teenager that we hear so often on FM radio. Instead of feeling bad about all the world's problems, Piebald uses Travis' wit to sing about how stupid it is to worry about everything. In "The Benifits of Ice Cream", Travis sings, "Hey most pessimistic boy in LA/Have some ice cream and relax in the shade". Piebald's sound might be something that long-time Piebald fans are not quite used to, but it's inventive and shows that they are able to evolve and want to explore, something that we don't usually hear.

Progression at its best.,

Theres just something about Travis' voice that I cannot put to words. I've been a fan of Piebald for as long as I can remember and love every one of thier albums, including the Barely Legal disc. Each album has a slightly different distinct sound from the others. That said, I could not have been more pleased with the progression and maturity the band has taken on All Ears. I couldn't possibly compare it to any of thier previous releases. The album as an entirety flows together so well it makes me think Chutes Too Narrow. This is definitely one of those albums where the sound is going to define a portion of my lifetime that I will think back on when I hear the music.

after hearing "jealous guy blues" on the vans warped tour cd i really took a liking piebald. the first time i listened to the cd it was ok, but after two or three times listening to it i must say it is quite good. the best tracks are "the jealous guy blues" and "haven't tried it". though they are the best, there are no bad songs on this cd. i haven't yet listened to their older stuff so i can't judge them on how much they have changed. this review is based solely on the album unlike some of the other reviews.

this album is by far the best piebald has put out. the songs are less pop but still have the funny quirky rock that piebald is loved for. and when they played their new songs live they sounded even better than on the album.

This Album is awsome. If you dont have it go get it right now. Piebald just recently came to my town for the all eares all eyes all the time they are great. The sound is a little diffrent then the past albums but it is still awsome. If you are a punk rock fan this is a must have.

Audio Trickery,

Not knowing who these guys were, I took one listen and swore up and down that it was Ben Folds. After finding out the truth, I still swear it's Ben Folds. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the album. The songs that rock and the songs with piano balance themselves nicely. It's a welcome surprise. Still, I think Ben Folds should sue somebody.

If it wasn't for Travis's annoying vocals, I'd swear this wasn't even Piebald. Are these guys scared of their old sound? Do they say "No Comment" when people ask about "Sometimes Friends Fight" and "When Life Hands You Lemons"? I saw them play about a year ago and they didn't even TOUCH "WLHYL" and only played "Marcus Garvy" off of "Venetian Blinds". I won't see them play again. Even if they played their first two albums in their entirity, I wouldn't go. I'm that pissed off. Piebald sucks now. Period.
