There seems to have been a time at which sentient beings have not escaped from the dungeon of individuality. In the East, liberation was elaborated into a fine art, but it may be doubted whether more people may not have made their escape from solitary confinement outside the organized religions than by means of them. In the West reintegration was sporadic but in recent years it has become a widespread preoccupation. Unfortunately its technical dependence on oriental literature- sometimes translated by scholars whose knowledge of the language was greater than their understanding of the subject-has proved a barrier which rendered full comprehension laborious and exceedingly long. There it appears to be essential that such teaching as may be transmissible shall be given in modern idiom and in accordance with out own processes of thought. Wei Wu Wei's books are not easy reading. They are not "feel good" spiritual books. What they provide is a way for us to discover the truth for ourselves by dismantling all of our beliefs about who and what we think we are. This book in particular is concise, clear, and right to the point. Wei Wu Wei, in the dedication, states this most clearly: "...this little book is the shortest, clearest, and the most direct of those bearing the Taoist signature-symbol "Wei Wu Wei", which seeks to embody in modern terminology the heart of the apprehension of the Sages of all the Ages. Indeed it might be maintained that the subsequent works have been to some extent commentaries and elaborations so that the readers thereof may be led back to "All Else is Bondage" as an epitome." If you are ready to let go of every idea you hold dear, then get out your dictionary and read this gem.
