A moment of difficult decision for Susan, who returns to England after six years to divorce Louis, whom she had married during the war, and whose restless, reckless charm had worn thin. Although determined to remain detached, Susan is attracted once again to Louis, sobered and stabilized by a head injury which left him with a memory blank which excludes her. And there are the old liens of loyalty to his brother, now wanted by the law, and the child she had left behind- with Louis' father- who is understandably embittered toward her mother. And within a few days, Susan's sense of failure about her marriage is overridden by these pressures and the recognition that Louis needs her and loves her... Feminine fiction, edged with glamor, this is quite seductive stuff. (Kirkus Reviews)
