Sophie Barrington has led a charmed life. She could have any man she desires at this year's haut ton social season. However, she thinks that her life is all but ruined since she happens to be in love with another who is not quite up to her family's social status. To Sophie's horror, she discovers her hell has just begun when her cousin Edgar and Aunt Heloise break the news to her that she is not only broke and left penniless, but she is in debt and they have already spent all of her money and more preparing her for London's social season. Sophie has no choice but to marry the dreaded lord Lyndhurst if she wants to stay out of debtors prison. She believes that if only she can get to her beloved Lord Oxely, her one true love, and explain the situation, she will be saved a fate and marriage worse than death. Unfortunately, her plan is foiled and she is placed in a most unbecoming light and her reputation ruined. Lord Lyndhurst decides it is time to take a wife and he doesn't very much care which one; any of them will do, but he does have his eye and mind set on Sophie Barrington. She would probably afford him a nice heir and his parents would be ever so pleased. Lord Lyndhurst asks Sophie for her hand in marriage, and upon her acceptance thinks his life will be coming along in it's due course of nature. He never thinks that he should love her, only that she is the prize he desires at the moment. When Sophie finds that her Aunt Heloise and cousin Edgar have fled to America and left her penniless and facing prison she, too, runs away to Exerter and tries to find a long forgotten family member (her great uncle Arthur). After discovering that he is gone for a month Sophie does the only thing she can do under such dire circumstances...she becomes a maid at the first country estate that she finds available. As good luck would have it they are just desperate enough to take her in. But they are not fooled. The servants know a fine lady no matter the circumstances she comes to them under. So Sophie tells a half truth and it isn't long before she works her way up from maid to another position. Unfortunately, Lord Lyndhurst has desired revenge coming straight from an unforgiving heart. For All Eternity is a witty and wonderful tale of revenge, love and lust. A delightfully intriguing setting with intensely loveable characters. Heather Cullman has written a jewel of a Regency with a most beguiling heroine. For All Eternity is a treasure worth reading, and Heather Cullman is an author worth repeating! 5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read!, November 25, 1998
By
This review is from: For All Eternity (Paperback)
Sophie Barrington had learned from her mistakes - a little too late - but she had learned. Fallen from society after rejecting her betrothed Nicholas, Lord Lyndhurst quite publicly. She further ruined herself by associating with the no-account wastrel Lord Oxley. Abandoned by her guardians and left to fend for herself, Sophie leaves London and takes a position as a maid in the country home of the Marquess of Beresford. Little does she know, the Marquess is Nicholas's father. Helplessly, Sophie must wait for Nicholas to enact his well deserved revenge...but for Sophie the greatest pain is caused by falling in love with the man she so cruelly rejected. Ms. Cullman is one of the best romance authors writing today, and I hope with this FANTASTIC book, she at last attains the success she so richly deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Story!!!, January 5, 2004
This review is from: For All Eternity (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by Heather Cullman and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The book was charming, sweet, and quite funny. I found myself laughing aloud throughout the entire read. I loved Sophia's transformation from spoiled beauty to humble gentlewoman and I simply adored Nicholas. He was such an endearing man whose sensitive and vulnerable side were revealed during several scenes in the book.
I do agree that the ending felt a bit rushed but I still enjoyed the book immensely. After writing this review, I will more than likely order all historical romances by Heather Cullman, hoping that they provide me with as much enjoyment as "For All Eternity" did.

I picked up this book out of the blue, and throughly enjoyed it. However, I enjoyed its hard to find sequel, Quentin's story - "A Perfect Scoundrel" even more - get your hands on it while you can.
