A Wonderful Read!,
By Heather Osborn (Long Beach, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For All Eternity (Paperback)
Sophie Barrington had learned from her mistakes - a little too late - but she had learned. Fallen from society after rejecting her betrothed Nicholas, Lord Lyndhurst quite publicly. She further ruined herself by associating with the no-account wastrel Lord Oxley. Abandoned by her guardians and left to fend for herself, Sophie leaves London and takes a position as a maid in the country home of the Marquess of Beresford. Little does she know, the Marquess is Nicholas's father. Helplessly, Sophie must wait for Nicholas to enact his well deserved revenge...but for Sophie the greatest pain is caused by falling in love with the man she so cruelly rejected. Ms. Cullman is one of the best romance authors writing today, and I hope with this FANTASTIC book, she at last attains the success she so richly deserves.

A Wonderful Story!!!,
By Once Upon A Time "Professional DayDreamer" (Southern Pines, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For All Eternity (Paperback)
This is the first book I've read by Heather Cullman and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The book was charming, sweet, and quite funny. I found myself laughing aloud throughout the entire read. I loved Sophia's transformation from spoiled beauty to humble gentlewoman and I simply adored Nicholas. He was such an endearing man whose sensitive and vulnerable side were revealed during several scenes in the book. I do agree that the ending felt a bit rushed but I still enjoyed the book immensely. After writing this review, I will more than likely order all historical romances by Heather Cullman, hoping that they provide me with as much enjoyment as "For All Eternity" did.

Excellent Regency,

I picked up this book out of the blue, and throughly enjoyed it. However, I enjoyed its hard to find sequel, Quentin's story - "A Perfect Scoundrel" even more - get your hands on it while you can.

Few authors do humor and romance well. Heather Cullman is one of them. After reading this, I went searching for the rest of her books.

This review is from: For All Eternity (Paperback)
Sophie Barrington is a seventeen year old attending her first season. Her guardians have selected a groom for her, Nicholas, Lord Lyndhurst. She is appalled; he is large, boorish, and in her opinion with a rather ugly scar across his face, besides she is in love with Lord Oxley. She is forced however to accept Lord Lyndhurst's suit because of huge family debts and instantly regrets her decision. She will go to Lord Oxley and she just knows he will save her from her predicament.
When Lord Oxley hears her plight about the forced marriage and no money he dismisses her but even worse, Sophie has ruined her chances with Lyndhurst. She confided to Lord Oxley that she found Lyndhurst repellant not knowing that Lyndhurst's brother overheard the conversation. Her guardians have left the country and Sophie is forced to go into service as a maid and finds herself employed at the seat of the Lyndhurst family. When Nicolas spies her he is astounded. He was incredibly hurt by Sophie's vicious words. Truly Sophie is completely spoiled and quite unlikable throughout much of this book. She begins to redeem herself toward the end of the novel when she gets over her vaulted self and sees Nicholas in a new light. Overall, not a bad book but it moved rather slowly. I would have preferred that Sophie have a change of heart a little sooner. Her transformation was gradual and by the time she was a decent heroine I had almost finished the book.

As good as it gets.,

I wish more books were on a par with this one. It's funny and of course romantic. The story stayed true to it's era, Regency England. Best of all I never wanted to skim past any paragraph's, let alone whole pages. Don't wait to find it used or at the library, buy it now. It's a keeper.

A charming fairy tale,

This is a charming, wonderful book to read on a moonlit night. There's a wonderful Prince Charming of a hero and a spoilt heroine who gets her due. I love them and the hero's delightful family, for I've never read of a more delightful bunch of people. Heather Cullman is clearly a find for me. I'm off to seek her backlist. A small complain though: the heroine's transformation from spoilt primadonna to sweet and kind woman, while well done, seems a little too rushed to be totally convincing.

Not what I expected,

Interesting plot... but the characters and story weren't very well taken off of. The ending was a bit rushed, I only wished it lived up to the summary. I just love books where the female is in trouble and her identity is hidden. Although, more sexual tensions! What I liked the best was this cover, I avoid buying books with a woman draped on a half-naked man.

An OK read,

This book was an easy enough read. However, I found Sophie's character a little childish and Nicholas was a not a really interesting hero. The book did have some enjoyable moments though, so it gets 3 stars.
