Few locals believe Sinclair's wealthy golden boy Martin Avery actually took his own life-or that his beautiful young widow had nothing to do with his death. Well aware of the rumors behind her back, Blaine Avery is focused on managing her late husband's finances and raising her adolescent stepdaughter...until her serene woodland property yields a gruesome discovery.
For the second time in six months, Sheriff Logan Quint has been called out to the Avery place, where another corpse has been found. This time, it belongs to a teenage girl who had everything to live for. But if Rosie Van Zandt didn't kill herself...who did?
As the once sleepy town reels from the rash of so-called suicides, Blaine regrets the day she ever came home. Only Logan is willing to accept her innocence-or her suspicions. For Blaine is desperate to clear her name, and dead certain somebody intends to destroy it. Somebody who calls her in the dead of night, taunting her with the childhood rhyme: Ring around the rosy, a pocket full of posey, ashes, ashes, we...

wow, what fun!,

I really enjoyed this book! It was fun, suspenseful, and it knew when to end. I would much rather read a 300 page book that is entertaining, gets to the point and keeps you turning the pages, than a 500 page story that drags on and on, making you long for the ending.
Blaine Avery is a beautiful, young vibrant woman who was suspected but never charged in the apparent suicide death of her older and wealthy husband. Now, 6 months later, people around Blaine are dying, shortly after being in her company. Are the rumors true? Is Blaine a cold-hearted killer, or is she being setup to take the blame for someone elses' crimes? Blaine claims to receive mysterious phone calls playing childrens songs right before the bodies are discovered. Is she lying to throw the police off track? This book flowed so easily and was over before I knew it. It is a completely entertaining read. It won't take long to finish this book, but you'll be glad you took the time.

I loved this book! There were so many worthy suspects that you were never sure who the murderer was and then when it unravels at the end you are totally shocked! Great, fun read and hard to put down. This was the first Carlene Thompson book I have ever read and I loved it. I just ordered all her others. If you enjoy a good mystery mixed with a bit of romance, this book is for you!

EXCITING ADVENTURE,

This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a reissue of a 1993 novel. However I had not read it. It was good to me. If you haven't read it I suggest you do.
Blaine Avery has been under a cloud of suspicion since the suicide of her husband Martin. Was it suicide? The sheriff doesn't think so. Blaine is alone trying to raise Martin's 17 year old daughter, Robin. Suddenly the murders start and Blaine finds each one. Someone is setting her up to take the fall. Surrounded by gossip and fighting for her reputation she has to turn to the one man who beleives her. Logan Quint, the sheriff. Can he discover who hates her enough to kill her? A very good read.
