5.0 out of 5 stars wow, what fun!
I really enjoyed this book! It was fun, suspenseful, and it knew when to end. I would much rather read a 300 page book that is entertaining, gets to the point and keeps you turning the pages, than a 500 page story that drags on and on, making you long for the ending.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!!!
I was very disappointed w/ this book. I had read IN THE EVENT OF MY DEATH and loved it but this wasn't a good read at all. It was only a little over 200 pages but it took me 7 days to read it, I finally just skipped to the back to find out who had done it. The lead character in it got on my nerves so bad that I wished somebody would have slit her wrist so she would "shut...

5.0 out of 5 stars wow, what fun!, November 3, 2005
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book! It was fun, suspenseful, and it knew when to end. I would much rather read a 300 page book that is entertaining, gets to the point and keeps you turning the pages, than a 500 page story that drags on and on, making you long for the ending.

Blaine Avery is a beautiful, young vibrant woman who was suspected but never charged in the apparent suicide death of her older and wealthy husband. Now, 6 months later, people around Blaine are dying, shortly after being in her company. Are the rumors true? Is Blaine a cold-hearted killer, or is she being setup to take the blame for someone elses' crimes? Blaine claims to receive mysterious phone calls playing childrens songs right before the bodies are discovered. Is she lying to throw the police off track?

This book flowed so easily and was over before I knew it. It is a completely entertaining read. It won't take long to finish this book, but you'll be glad you took the time.

I loved this book! There were so many worthy suspects that you were never sure who the murderer was and then when it unravels at the end you are totally shocked! Great, fun read and hard to put down. This was the first Carlene Thompson book I have ever read and I loved it. I just ordered all her others. If you enjoy a good mystery mixed with a bit of romance, this book is for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars EXCITING ADVENTURE, October 31, 2004
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a reissue of a 1993 novel. However I had not read it. It was good to me. If you haven't read it I suggest you do.

Blaine Avery has been under a cloud of suspicion since the suicide of her husband Martin. Was it suicide? The sheriff doesn't think so. Blaine is alone trying to raise Martin's 17 year old daughter, Robin. Suddenly the murders start and Blaine finds each one. Someone is setting her up to take the fall. Surrounded by gossip and fighting for her reputation she has to turn to the one man who beleives her. Logan Quint, the sheriff. Can he discover who hates her enough to kill her? A very good read.

Carlene Thompson has to be one of the best mystery writers around. I have just discovered her and have now ordered and started reading all of her books. She always keeps me guessing until the last pages. I can never out guess her. What a wonderful writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never ending suspense, June 24, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
This was only the second book by this author that I had read and I was not particularly impressed with the first one. I am however very glad that I bought this one. It is probably the best mystery I have read. It hooks you from the very first page and never lets up. It was filled with clever twists and turns that have you thinking that you know who the killer must be. Then all of a sudden, you are hit with the startling truth.

Blaine Avery lost her husband to an unexpected suicide just six months prior. She is left with the man's teenage daughter who doesn't care for her much. The sheriff Logan Quint was the first to accuse Blaine of murdering her crippled husband, yet found no evidence to convict her. Now six months later, the daughter's best friend is found murdered on Blaine's property and the act is made to look like suicide. The evidence quickly shifts to Blaine as she continues to find other victims. Logan tries to give her the benefit of the doubt, but even he finds it hard to believe it is coincidence. The killer is definitely fixated on Blaine. The closer she gets to finding the truth, the more her life is in jeopardy. Can she get out of this nightmare before it is too late?

4.0 out of 5 stars A great mystery, January 9, 2005
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read nearly all of Carlene Thompson's books, I knew this would be a great mystery. Once again she did not disappoint. I had my assumptions of who the killer was, but just couldn't figure out a motive. Lots of twists and turns. Read it and you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, October 25, 2006
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)
Blaine Avery has been suspected of her late husband Martin Avery's death, even though it looked like suicide.

Blaine moves back home after staying with her sister when Blaine had pneumonia. While walking her dog in the woods of her home, Blaine finds a body in the creek, the friend of her step daughter Robin. Again the local cop that Blaine once dated, Logan Quint wonders if she had anything to do with it.

Logan wants to believe Blaine but the evidence and then the bodies keep piling up around Blaine where ever she goes. One at the school, one at her late husband's nurse's house.

Blaine always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and all the evidence points at her.

This book was hard to put down once you started it, and the ending was a surprise to me. I love all of Carlene Thompson books and this one was no exception.

Good Read

4.0 out of 5 stars DEATH BECOMES HER..., March 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All Fall Down (Mass Market Paperback)

When Blaine Avery's wealthy husband died at home, it was ruled a suicide, though many of the townspeople did not believe for one minute that he committed suicide. Suspicion, therefore, rested upon his young wife, who was became a millionaire in her own right upon his death.

Blaine is aware of the rumors and innuendos that surround her, making her job as step-mother to Martin's daughter that much more difficult, as well as the subject of much gossip. She is determined to live down the rumors. After all, she did not kill her husband, though she, too, found it difficult to believe he killed himself.

When yet another body is found on the Avery property, the Sheriff is hard pressed to eliminate Blaine from the list of suspects. This time the body is that of her step-daughter's best friend, a teenage girl that had everything to live for.

When the body toll continues to rise, and Blaine is connected in some way to the discovery of each corpse, she is determined to clear her name whatever the cost. Although the Sheriff is convinced of Blaine's innocence, it is being whispered that his vision is clouded by the torch he has been carrying for her for years. After all, they were childhood sweethearts.

As with all of Carlene Thomson's books, this one is enjoyable. Though somewhat formulaic, it is well-plotted and the dialogue believable, moving the book along at a brisk clip. Those who enjoy books of romantic suspense will enjoy this one.
