Tory is a great man, I had e pleasure of meeting him on the Sam's Club BBQ tour this year, in Thornton, CO and again in Salt Lake, UT. His book will aid new BBQ cooks in the how and whys, but also it will give the old pro a new perspective on how other parts of the country do BBQ well. Buy it, read it and then share it with all your friends. Don't loan them the book it wont come home again tell them where to buy their own copy. It' s worth every penny.

Got this for a present; however, after having scanned several of the items and recipes; maybe not so much any more. If you love southern cooking this is a great. I really like the slow cooking items and particularly the slab of ribs. Just image ribs being slow cooked and smoked at the same time with a little Great American Rub and you got yourself a meal for a king. Yum Yum. You won't be sorry with this purchase. First grillers and master experts that is something for everyone.

The food in this book is the best. We have cooked several recipes and the flavors were unbelievable! The book covers rubs, sauces and all sorts of good dinners packed from cover to cover. Another reviewer said not much was said about the restaurants where the food was from, who cares this book is about how to prepare good food on the BBQ presented in an easy to read format while cooking with lots of photos. I'm not much for cookbooks, but this one is totally worth every penny.

Troy Black & the team over at Southern Living have done a fine job on this book! Within a week of receiving the book in the mail, my wife (because of the beautiful pictures that make your mouth water) had me cooking 5 different recipes. The book is easy to understand, the recipes are fairly simple to execute, and as mentioned before -- the pictures will have your mouth watering as you're cooking! It's one of the best books out there for the price!

This book has amazing recipes that make me look like a pro - I have tried a couple and they turned out excellent! My fourth of July party is going to rock this year - I am making at least 3 of the recipes in here! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves food and loves to grill. You don't have to be a grill master to make these either. Very good purchase!

My husband's true love is cooking, especially barbecuing. We met Troy while he was in MN for a BBQ tour ... we had the pleasure of tasting some of his cooking & absolutely had to have this book. My husband loved it so much, he also bought one for my dad & my brother-in-law. We highly recommend this book!!! Great tips, great pics & delicious recipes!! Have fun!!

Good cookbook. One area of improvement would be clarity of measurements for novice cooks. It was easy for me too follow

This is a really good book that describes how to cook a lot of things. If you are a backyard BBQ man, you will most likely like and learn a lot from this book.

I bought this for my husband. He sits down with it and actually reads the tips and instructions about different meats and cooking styles. It explains a lot of techniques to use for different purposes. Several recipes are included for BBQ sauces. He has been quite impressed with the book and anxious to try some of the sauces and techniques soon.

This book has great sauces rubs and recipes. Not only does it cover gas and charcoal grills, it covers smoking technics. The book covers ribs and other meats, plus great side dishes.
