All God's Children,
This review is from: All God's children: A novel (Unbound)
Jacob Asch, the out-of-work reporter turned detective who was introduced in The Dead Are Discreet, returns in All God's Children, a new novel of murder in Southern California.
Asch is hired by Robert Haynes to find his eighteen-year-old stepdaughter, Susan Gurney. The search for her leads Asch into Los Angeles' fringe population: first to the Word of God commune where Susan lived among "Jesus freaks," then to the man who "deprogrammed" her and brought her home just a few days before her disappearance, finally to her boyfriend and the members of his motorcycle gang known as "Satan's Warriors." An assignment to find a teenage runaway does not seem serious detective work - until the first body is found. From then on, the disappearance of Susan Gurney is no longer a game - long before it has ended, there are other victims. --- from book's dustjacket |
