Product Description

Winners of the LAMC battle of the bands 2005 PACHA (from Pachamama, meaning 'mother earth') sends ripples through out the new global electro scene. Exposed from birth to the pulse of Palo, Son, Cumbia, Reggae and the whole gamma of the Afro-New World tradition, Pacha concoct a positively charged blend that will hit you like a rum laced organic smoothie on the hottest summer day. Playing their first gig at Madison Square Garden, Pacha has from the start created an incredible buzz. In the three years following that initial gig (opening for Aterciopleados) Pacha has performed with Ozomatli, Sidestepper, and Yerba Buena, among others. DJ Nova(writer/producer, King Chango, SiSe, Om) on keys/guitar and Maya on bass make up the core of Pacha, an electro-acoustic groove collective, often sharing the stage with up to seven or eight collaborators

The Latin-alternative stylings of Pacha Massive aren't easy to classify, and that's a wonderful thing. The duo--Dominican-born Nova (keys/guitar) and Colombian-born Maya (bass)--is part of the same quirky soundscape that includes Orishas, Kinky, and Plastilina Mosh. In fact, Pacha's win at the Latin Alternative Music Conference Battle of the Bands puts them in the championship company of Kinky and Los Abandoned. But Pacha Massive's Bronx-based, bilingual sound is all its own. Trippy loops collide with Colombian cumbia, Dominican palo, reggae, and dancehall. It's an invigorating mix, from the cocktail cool of "Don't Let Go" and "Your Love" to the classic/contemporary vibe of "La Verdolaga." Guest vocalist Letha Francis makes like Dido during "Get It On," and "Prende La Luz" sizzles with street flavor. All Good Things is buoyed throughout by electronic accents, but Pacha Massive's natural talent gives the project its gloriously beating heart. --Joey Guerra

All Good Things is an awesome album that has been long overdue as far as I'm concerned. This album has something for everyone, and if you like eclectic music this is the first truly cross cultural hip hop album since The Fugees dropped The Score. While the fugees are clearly a more rap-centric group at that point, Pacha Massive's ecclectic mix definitely deserves comparison to them. It's that good.

Pacha Massive was on my mind long before they had an official album on the market. I run in a lot of different musical circles, especially in NY city. And this duo definitely has had a reputation for bringing originality to their own brand of Latin fusion. Normally I don't even like the word "Latin" but in this case this applies. This is a great blend between European, South American, African and American music styles.

Pacha Massive easily switch between singing and rapping in English and Spanish. They do that while mixing beats and music including trip-hop, Latin, hip-hop and techno beats as well as every musical influence you can name. Yet the combination of all these things is so smooth that I believe some may mistake it for "pop." If they get the attention they deserve it may become "pop."

"Don't Let Go" is a laid back track, but a great introduction to a fantastic album,. The rhythm and beat are well laid down and the chorus is very catchy. The Spanish rap on this track is also good and lends to an overall chill atmosphere. This is not the kind of mind-blowing rap that some are producing these days.

Pacha is of the new breed of Latino artists who blend , borrow and create sounds that emerge from living and being part of two cultures , languages and worlds. This album is smoking. You listen to it and you just feel cool.

As a major fan of trip-hop, funk, and also Latin Alternative music, Pacha Massive are a dream band for me. I found out about them after a friend forwarded me an article about them from the NY Daily News.

The first single "Don't Let Go" is a hypnotic, groovy anthem with a great bassline and beautiful vocals. Other standout tracks include "All Good Things" and "Pachangueando". I'm a fan of acts like Nortec Collective and Aterciopelados, but it's nice to see an act of this caliber emerge from the United States. Go Pacha Massive!!

I was lucky enough to buy 'All Good Things' on a trip to New York a few months ago. I knew nothing about the band, but bought it after having listened to the CD for a few minutes. This is an absolutely awsome album, and I hope the record company realize what a talented bunch of young kids they have signed up. Pacha Massive deserves a lot more attention than what they have been given so far. I am not from New York, I don't understand much Spanish, but it really doesn't matter. Once you buy this disc, it will get stuck in your CD player for weeks to come.

One of my favorite things to do on Amazon is to type in bands that I know I love, and see what else comes up in that category...in this case I believe I was looking for Manu Chao and Pacha Massive was recommended...after reading the reviews I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad that I did!!! What an awesome disc! Rarely am I so pleased with a new purchase by an artist that I've never heard...this one gets better every time I hear it. On first listen, the opening track "Don't Let Go" is so strong it instantly became my new favorite song...the rest of the disc initially didn't hold up to that power, but the more I listen, the more I appreciate the scope of talent and range that this disc offers. I love it, I highly, highly recommend it!
