This edition gets 4 stars. The music would get 5 but This specific edition gets 4 because of it's booklet. The booklet is not the same as it's original release. The inside of the booklet has a mini biography on her with a misprint : It says "It's her voice hawking Domino's Pizza on TV". EH! Wrong! It's her voice hawking Pizza Hut on TV. This "Collector's Choice Music" who released this needs to get their information correct before they change the inside of a CD booklet. This is still a classic QL Album.

"All Hail the Queen" was the debut hip-hop album from Dana Owens aka Queen Latifah. As people know by now, Latifah is an Oscar-nominated actress who has segued into jazzy pop albums. The New Jersey native and co-founder of the "Flavor Unit" hip-hop crew signed to Tommy Boy Recordings and released her signature style of feminist hip-hop in 1989.

"Ladies First" (with Briton MC Monie Love), "Mama Gave Birth to the Soul Children", "Evil that Men Do", and "Wrath of my Madness" are some of the standout songs here. Latifah proved she could go toe-to-toe with male rappers and earn their respect while standing up for women's place in the hip-hop culture..

Production duties are handled by DJ Mark the 45 King, Prince Paul, KRS-One, and others. The songs segue from late-80's style jazz & funk samples to then-contemporary trends of house music fusion.

Tommy Boy was asborbed by Warner Bros. music in 2002, but curiously, a proper-rerelease by Rhino Records has not happened yet, but it is definitely needed. Meanwhile, at least the album can be appreciated in its original form.
