5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires with bite - Heroine with guts - Great book!, April 6, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (1) (Kindle Edition)
An amazing debut novel. The storyline is unique, it has a great blend of suspense, action, romance, and paranormal fiction. I adore that the heroine (Keila) is not an out of the box personality, she has real depth and you can feel her torment throughout the book however the it's not a downer at all because she is so tough and has such a strong spirit. It has all the aspects I love about a good romance but the characters have much sharper edges which makes for a compelling read. The vampires are not watered down nor are they simply blood thirsty monsters. All Hallows Blood kept me turning pages late into the night. Can't wait for book 2 to be released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avid Reader, January 27, 2011
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (Paperback)
Ms. Carluk pulls no punches with her characters and their lives. She takes Keila from the edge of despair and devastating loss to a strong tough, yet still loving, heroine we want to be. Varick and Keila's romance is hot. Ms. Carluk's debute novel is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging! Definitely pick this one up!, December 27, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (1) (Kindle Edition)
I loved this book right from the start. Haunted by the death of her parents, and her mother's murder in particular, Keila is a psionicist looking for answers. I love the heroine of this story! She's not just a normal psychic, she has more power than even she realizes. The book gripped me from the beginning and each chapter ending had me turning the page to see what happened next.

What I loved most though is that even though Keila is very strong, she's also vulnerable and haunted by a painful past. It really makes me care about her and want to see what happens in her life. I highly recommend All Hallows Blood to anyone who enjoys sexy paranormal romances with vampires and kick-butt heroines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great twist on the time-old classic vampire, October 26, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (1) (Kindle Edition)
I loved this book. Fresh. Unique. Keila was a fell real and tormented character that I related too...and I liked that the author kept me on the edge of my seat...the villains were evil which is always a good thing... scenes got explicit at times, but overall I enjoyed the direction the story took. I would encourage the author to put a bit more time into fleshing out the characters and keep to her instincts though, cuz great stuff here.

Great debut novel and very interesting.

Kudos to the suthor Raven!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait For Next One!, October 13, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (Paperback)
All Hallow's Blood by Raven Corrin Carluk is a very decent first novel. As far as vampire fantasy and romance goes, this is not your typical Twilight-like story that we see so much of nowadays. The main character, Keila, is a very in-depth character, and you can tell that Raven put a lot of thought into creating her. As you read, you begin to see things through Keila's eyes. You are in her head. You are her. This was one of those books that you read a chapter from, and then you read another, because you are dying to know what happens. And then, well, you have finished the book! And this book leaves you wanting more, and not in a bad way! I cannot wait to read book two in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Bringing fangs back to vampires., September 2, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (1) (Kindle Edition)
With the world entrances with the Twlight epidemic, it's nice to come across a book more true to what vampires really are and what they were always intended to be: mythical super beings with FANGS that need to drink blood for sustainance. The story itself deals nicely with intertwining plots and intriguing characters that manage to not be overly stereotypical as with some other aforementioned vampire novels. Though the story got a bit explicit for my tastes, it nevertheless kept me reading till the end. Great story, and a breath of fresh air for anyone sick of hearing about team edward vs. team jacob.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Your Average Vampire Bait ! !, September 1, 2010
This review is from: All Hallows Blood (Paperback)

Keila O'Broin is not your average young woman. Raised by two psychically powerful parents who trained her to battle evil in its worst forms, Keila is a heroine a reader can get behind. At the opening of our story, she is suffering depression at the one-year anniversary of her mother's death (her father having died previously). She feels responsible, and the guilt eats away at her happiness like a cancer. Amidst her self-pity-party, she runs into some teenage ghosts who lead her to a horrible monster who has been kidnapping and murdering children. Keila battles the creature, only to discover that it is a vampire--the first one she's ever seen. When the dust settles, the vampire underling is dead, but she is terribly weakened. Thankfully (for us as well as for her!), she is rescued by the extremely handsome, alluring, and immortal Varick Eitenhauer. Forging a partnership with the 800-year-old vampire begins immediately; and while they massage out their personality quirks and temper their mutual attraction, they work side-by-side to rid Portland of the menace that so enjoys killing innocents.

Built like a beautiful, raven-haired Amazon, Keila isn't your typical petite, blonde-haired, blue-eyed vampire bait. She is a warrior, and this is the very thing Varick (and the reader) finds irresistible about her. Our heroine's character arc will take her from her self-pity and self-loathing to a surge in her self-esteem and a closer relationship with her adopted family members, Chris and Simy. These changes can only take place through trials; such as grueling warfare with creatures trying to kill her, and finding herself in the vampire she comes to love.

Author Raven Corinn Carluk has woven a vampire yarn that explodes with action, and strikes the reader to the core. The tale is told in superb, shall I say flawless, first person; you will *become* Keila O'Broin, Psionicist and Psychic Extraordinaire. You will know what it feels like to love, to hate, to battle and to adore as Carluk allows us to hitch a ride into her character's mind. This is the type of book you read in one sitting because you can't bear to stop, each chapter moving you to the next at a delightfully feverish pace.

Now, Carluk must get going with the sequel...I'm waiting...

Note to young or sensitive readers: "All Hallows Blood" is sexually explicit, but not sexually gratuitous.

Let me start by saying, I liked the story and will buy the next one. However, the cover of the book is going to seriously limit the reading audience. How do you leave the book lying around with such a cheesy, beefcake cover? If the author expects to be taken seriously, she has to put a little more thought into the next cover.

I found the story to be somewhat tedious in the over explanation/development of the characters. The idea is good, but the over dramatization never allowed the story to pick up speed. It's seemed to drag and was slow going in spots.

Again, I see real potential. I loved the idea, it was fresh, and certainly can only get better. Please, keep going!!

4.0 out of 5 stars New author to watch, May 16, 2010

This review is from: All Hallows Blood (Paperback)
All Hallows Blood is the debut novel by Raven Corinn Carluk. It is the tale of Keila, the psychic warrior, who avenges the deaths of a group of kids who were killed by a vampire serial killer. Unfortunately for Keila, stopping the serial killer was only the start of her adventure. She soons meets the vampire boss of the area, Varick, and then things get really interesting. Along with intriguing characters, Raven also has a wonderful narrative style to her writing that pulls you into the character's minds and the action. I am looking forward to the second book in this series.
