5.0 out of 5 stars All Hallows deserves more than 5 stars! March 12, 2004
Format:Audio CD
AFI have officially become my favorite ACTUAL PUNK group, other than Misfits. All Hallows, the simply put masterpiece E.P., is possibly the greatest disc that Davey Havok and his group, have ever put out. Even despite the undenyable fact it only contains 4 songs.
All Hallows is a 4 track E.P. in which contains 3 new songs, and a Misfits cover. I shall now review them, 1 by 1.
1. "Fall Children"-This song I absolutely love! Its lyrics are simply great, with lyrics like "As the cries start to penitrate still air, this day we celebrate, the wait now ends!" who wouldn't love this song? It has a catchy chorus, "This day so hollowed!" and its guitar, drum, and bass work are just absolutely great, top notch. Overall rating for this song, 10/10
2. "Halloween"-I'll start off by saying, that I myself am a huge fan of the Misfits. So when listening to this song, I was very very openminded to see if they slandered or respected the group with their re-creation of it, and I loved it. This song is atleast just as good as the original Misfits version. I myself think that the lyrics themselves and the sound, are better than the Misfits version. The only problem I have with this song is the annoying major on-going extension of noise and sounds at the end of this song, which spans over 3 minutes. The original Misfits song is only about 2 minutes long, without noises. Why couldn't AFI just do that?! Overall rating for this song, 9/10.
3. "The Boy Who Destroyed the World"-This song is pretty good, it's quite a slow song, and its intro resembles the intro to "Who Knew" from the Black Sails E.P. While this is definantly not one of my favorite songs on the E.P. it's also not a bad song at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Four Song EP September 29, 2001
Format:Audio CD
All Hallows is one of the best EPs I've ever heard. It ranks up there with Radiohead's Airbag EP and their My Iron Lung EP.
All Hallows starts with Fall Children, it's slow creepy intro is perfect before the storm. The music box ending chills me every time I listen to it. Music Boxes and clowns are pretty much the only two things that scare me...Halloween is a Misfits cover and remains great along side the original. The Boy Who Destroyed The World is 3 minutes of great punk, but next is one of punk rocks finest moments ever in the song Total Immortal. Great bass, great lyrics (so poetic...) and great guitars. So much better than the bastardized version The Offspring did...

5.0 out of 5 stars Three of AFI's best songs, and a cover July 1, 2003
By James
Format:Audio CD
It's rare that a band releases an EP containing three of their best songs ever written. However, this is the case with AFI's All Hallows E.P. For most people, this collection of songs, released between Black Sails and the Art of Drowning is AFI at their absolute best. The songs are a perfect balance between catchiness/polish, as well as fast, visceral and very anthemic. As for Halloween (originally recorded by the Misfits) is hands-down their best cover song. It's just a damned shame they didn't release a whole album with music of this quality.
Fall Children - This song is an excellent introduction to the songs that follow. It really captures the festive, tribal essence of celebration and reverence that AFI were trying to accomplish. Other than that, it's just a great song. Filled with those trademark "woahs" and a sing-along chorus, many may choose this as their favorite song on the album.
Halloween - Though this wasn't written by AFI, it's actually better than a lot of their original pieces. It doesn't fall victim to the frequent butchering and distortion of songs being covered that we often see. In fact, it's quite the opposite - I prefer this version to the original Misfits version.

The Boy Who Destroyed the World - Here's another classic AFI song. Though it isn't as good as Fall Children or Totalimmortal, it's still one of my favorite AFI songs. It isn't as immediately appealing or catchy as the other tracks on this EP, but it will grow on you with time. Interestingly enough, it shares a very similar guitar intro to Who Knew? from the Black Sails EP. Check that one out, too.
Totalimmortal - This is my favorite song on the EP, and possibly my all-around favorite AFI song of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Listen.. First Interests September 24, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I am a new AFI fan, I found that this cd was amazing. I had no idea what to expect out of these guys. Fall Children is a great song, starting out slow with a bit of a gloomy intro before it just broke into an amazing balance of hardcore guitars and vocals. Other songs came in as well but Fall Children was about the best of them all. Total Immortal gave it a great end. It's diverse, yet the same in the same low sweep of guitar balancing with vocals. Hard to describe it well, but if you want to know what they sound like, try this cd first, it worked for me. I'm hooked now.

5.0 out of 5 stars AFI is truly the new face of punk November 23, 1999
Format:Audio CD
I started listening to AFI about a year ago, and I have learned to love thier music more than any other band. Davey Havoc has the most insaine vocals that just grow on you until you can't stop listening to his songs. Black Sails In The Sunset pushed perfection to it's limits. Thier new sound is nothing short of a blessing to all us kids who need a little something new. All Hallows is just another reason to start listening to the band that will take hardcore punk into the new millinium.

Okay, so basically, this EP sounds like a Misfits album, only the songs intelligent and are better written. I'm not saying anything bad about the Misfits. Read more
