Dee Dee's old LP's are very tough to find in Near Mint condition, so I was more than happy to give this CD of two of those old records a try. Well, the sound is great and the selections had me singing along. Dee Dee does fabulous versions of Any Day Now, Party Lights, Don't Play That Song, Limbo Rock, and 20 others. It's unbelievable that neither of these two LP's made the Billboard charts, particularly with Cameo-Parkway having such popularity in the early 60's with Chubby Checker, Bobby Rydell, The Orlons, The Dovells, AND Dee Dee all getting lots of AM Radio play. If you lived in or around the Philadelphia area in the early 60's, you must own this CD. Trust me.

What a wonderfull walk down memory lane with Dee Dee Sharpe!
Her voice will shake you, and wake you!
I've liked Dee Dee Sharpe's voice since the moment I first heard
her duet with Chubby Checker, "Slow Twistin'" in 1962.
Next was the "Mashed potato time" in 1963,
and I loved rock and roll music, almost as much as air.

(The collection of her hits from "Cameo - Parkway, The Best of" is fantastic)

Her powerhouse voice makes it just plain fun, and takes you back in time,
to hear these two L.P. albums back to back.
Her voice sounds bigger than life, and when she adds that 'growl'
it makes you want to get up and dance.

It's a fairly common practice for an artist to record a complete album
covering other artists hits, and that's what this album is.
Of these 24 tracks, 22 are covers of some hits that someone else made popular.
18 of these songs had originally been hits in 1962, & 5 had originally been hits in 1963.
One of the tracks, "Ride" from 1962 is Dee Dee's own, and there is one uncharted song, "First star".

Three songs, although obscure, did chart in the top 100.
"The popeye waddle"
"Comin home baby"
"Wiggle wobble" -

Most of these tracks are uptempo, and Sharpe's powerhouse voice,
so reminiscence of the early 60's, make this a 5 star album.

Produced by Liberty Bell Records in 1988.
Made in Italy. All songs are Mono.
I think this collection sounds great, but I don't need everything in stereo.

The packageing is basic, and there aren't any liner notes.
But this is a great listen.
These are the original recordings re-issued of two early 1960's L.P.'s,
and Sharpe's voice is in the prime of her career.
