3.0 out of 5 stars amazing art work
Some of the pages of this book I could just frame the art is amazing. I think the text was over the heads of my 4 year old class. I am saving it until the end of the year when they are all 5 and maybe they will get it. I think it would be perfect for a first grade class to read and make their own art to go with it.

This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
"I used to think that I was small...a little body, that was all." With these words, the reader immediately identifies with this small child's wonder at all that is around him. The trees seem so tall as he looks upward through their branches! The magnificence of the night sky, so filled with glorious points of light, seems so immense. Who could ever know why those many stars are so bright and beautiful or where they get their vibrant light, and how could he possibly fit into this wondrous place - and most of all, where could he go for answers?

This book tells its story by speaking of things that children see: trees, plants, animals, and people - plus the moon, the sun, the stars, and even candy bars. Amazingly, children who read this book seem to automatically understand its deeper meaning; "Your body is just a little part of the light that shines within your heart." All I See Is Part Of Me is about innocence and wonder, and it is beautifully written for small children. I highly recommend enjoying this book with your child. The poetry is charming and the colorful illustrations are innovative and imaginative - perfect for viewing the world and the universe through a child's eyes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my FAVORITE children's book!, March 7, 2003

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would.

I have been searching since before my 2 year old was born for a book that is simple enough for him to stay focused on through the whole reading, yet one that conveys a message of oneness with the world around us. This book does that in the most beautiful, sweetest way. When I opened it and read it to myself, I realized I had tears in my eyes. It is the sweetest story of a child who is questioning himself and the world around him. By asking questions of the Sun and the Star, he realizes that he is part of everything in this world, and everything is part of him. At the end of the story, he falls asleep knowing in his heart that he goes on everywhere, and everything beautiful in the world exists within himself.

I read it to my son this afternoon and he was totally captivated with the illustrations and the short rhymes on each page. This book will be our bedtime book each night, and I'm sure will become the gift to give to other children we know. This is a must have for any family who appreciates the innate wisdom and beauty of nature and the fact that we are all connected to the world and each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Picture Book About Non-Duality, February 12, 2002
This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
ALL I SEE IS PART OF ME is written for the child in each of us who longs to feel a sense of wonder and mystery. It conveys the idea of being at one with all that is -- with the plants, animals, people, Earth, sun, moon, and stars. This story is told as a poem with beautiful full-color illustrations on every page to accompany its lyrical prose. This book is a keeper -- one that you'll be glad to have on the bookshelf long after your little ones have grown up and moved out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book for Children and Adults!, July 31, 2001

This books uplifts the spirit and helps children to realize they are part of everything they see, hear, touch, and smell. A spiritual book with no suggestion of whom they should believe in. They simply mention prayers being said to all that "IS". The illustrations are beautiful and very enchanting. Our 2 1/2 yr old son wanted this book read to him every night for several months and is still one of his favorites. Most of the sentences rhyme and our son has memorized the entire book and often reads along with me! Highly recommended to those who are seeking a sweet bedtime book w/ deeper thoughts for children to ponder.

5.0 out of 5 stars A BIG Message put so all can get it., November 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
I have read this book to many friends and to my preschool students for the past 5 years. The children are so receptive to the message; it's as though they still remember what the adults have forgotten. Connecting seems to come naturally to them but then they too, get absorbed and forget.

This book explains how everyone and all things are connected beyond what our eyes can see. If we could teach this lesson we would have world peace. All could live in harmony.

Great book to enhace a person's self-esteem and feeling of connectedness to the world around them.

The narrative is in verse, a joy for young children. And the illustrations are just right, drawings increase the richness of the text immensely. You can see the grain of the paper on which they were drawn adding to the flavor and delightfullness of the book.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book for everyone. It's message of connectedness is uplifting and important for someone raised in our society of separateness. After I read it I knew I wanted to buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect words & beautiful drawings for the child within!, June 23, 1999
This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
We love reading this book over & over! My 7 & 8 year old boys enjoy reading it many times a day. We are filled with so much joy, awe & love when turning each beautifully illustrated page, every word is so know; You are every place there is to go. You have a body, this is true...But look at what's inside of you!" I closed my eyes to see within. I saw a light! It made me grin. It reminded me of Sister Star. She said, " That light is who you are. Your body is just a little part of that the light that shines within your heart." This book is a perfect gift for all the children of the world. They are all "OUR"

4.0 out of 5 stars A Reminder of Who We Are, June 6, 2005
This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
"For every question there could be the answer inside of me. All I ever had to do was ask the part of me that knew." -from the book

The inspiration for All I See is a Part of Me came to author Chara Curtis while sitting on a log one sunny day. Noticing the support of the log-as well as the river and forest-she envisioned billions of dancing lights of life. She realized that everything she was seeing was of the same essence-and that she was part of a sea of love and light.

Artist Cynthia Aldrich conveys the author's message with chalky, playful images awash with color. From Sister Star to her teddy bear, the child in the book begins to realize that she is a part of all she sees-and all she sees is a part of her, as well.

All I See is a Part of Me captures the reverie that comes from present-moment awareness, as well as the child-like acceptance that All That Is shares the same source and essence. By finding and feeling the light within, the child then finds the same light in others.

Although geared towards children, this lovely book reminds us that all is attainable from within-and that everything we encounter reflects a part of Who We Are. I highly recommend this book for all ages, especially as a reminder of our oneness with the Universe.

This review is from: All I See Is Part of Me (Hardcover)
I accepted this book as a gift from my dad when I was six (1994). At that age although the book was magical i couldnt grasp its meaning. I tried, but could never understand. Now the book is more than magical to me, it is a basal part of my life. I love this book. I look back remembering myself striving to see what my dad saw. Now I can finally understand these words.
