At 122 pages, could not be called 'All-Inclusive',

This review is from: The All Inclusive Handbook To Adopting A Child: Everything you must know to adopt a child, from adoption agencies to sensitive situations you need to be prepared for. (Paperback)
I should have looked at the details of the book closer. At only 122 pages, how could it be considered 'All-Inclusive'? The information was very general, averaging only two or three paragraphs per heading. Most (if not all) of the information is available online. This book did not go deeply into any one topic at all. I would venture to say that it does not go into the subject of adoption too deeply. It really is more of an overview, and if it had been billed as that, I would not have returned it. If it is Volume 1, I'm wondering where Volume 2 is.
So why even two stars? This might serve as a good introduction to adoption, but I might even caution against that. If you are serious enough about adoption to be purchasing books about it, you really need something with some meat to it. There are few things more dangerous than a little knowledge.

Includes information on possible scams,
By Marilyn Hatton "Marilyn Hatton" (GA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The All Inclusive Handbook To Adopting A Child: Everything you must know to adopt a child, from adoption agencies to sensitive situations you need to be prepared for. (Paperback)
I appreciated the information on safety guidelines, dealing with birth mother scams, adoption agency rip-offs, and online tricks. Every adoptive parent should be aware of all aspects in order to be fully prepared. Adoption alone is a very emotional process, getting scammed should be the least of all worries. So it's good that this book prepares you for that because awareness is always the first thing to prevention. Good job!

This is an adoption manual every adoptive parent must have. Provides complete information on all the types of adoption, and what you can expect on each. Even what you can expect after bringing the child home and helping him and other family members adjust to real life circumstances. Very practical book.

Great fundamentals and recommendations,
By L. Kaiser "L. Kaiser" (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The All Inclusive Handbook To Adopting A Child: Everything you must know to adopt a child, from adoption agencies to sensitive situations you need to be prepared for. (Paperback)
A very good book choice for the all you need to know about adoption. The fundamentals are there, even a listing for recommended reputable adoption agencies, but what I like the most was the last sections on coping with the newly brought-home adopted child and dealing with sensitive situations. Anyone looking into the adoption process absolutely need this book.

This is a brilliant book for me. Easy to understand, very detailed presentation. Very applicable information to guide you through the adoption process from the moment of contemplating, to bringing the child home, to adjusting to real life, sensitive situations. A must-read for those studying this scenario.

Inclusive adoption book,
By E.Keller "E.Keller" (WA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The All Inclusive Handbook To Adopting A Child: Everything you must know to adopt a child, from adoption agencies to sensitive situations you need to be prepared for. (Paperback)
I think this is an inclusive book about the entire adoption process. My husband and I are starting the adoption process and this is one of my reference books. I might or might not adopt a young child, maybe an older one, maybe a child of another race. This book has truly opened the options for us. I appreciate the details of the pros and cons for each choice. The details on the practicalities involved were very wide-ranging: the costs involved, the laws involved, suggestions for reputable adoption agencies, the requirements, the need for counseling,to state just a few of the many issues tackled. I also valued the sections on dealing with real life situations. This book is preparing me, and my husband, wholly.
