Excellent CD Long Delay, February 9, 2010
This review is from: All Join In (Audio CD)
Due to his recent concert tour with Jim Messina this was pulled from its July 2009 release and may not be released by Disney due to ecomonic problems
All the tracks are good
1. Underneath the Same Sky- This is the theme from the recent Disney DVD
My Friends Tigger, Pooh and a Musical Too and is sung by Kenny on the soundtrack. Good to start with a Disney/Pooh theme!
2. All Together Now- A Beatles classic which is one of many songs featuring Kenny's youngest daughter Hana. Kenny did have to change the line "Can I take my friend to bed" to "Mama says it's time for bed" for obivious reason.
3. You've Got a Friend in Me- Too bad they didn't use this on the Toy Story soundtrack...
3. Two of Us- Another Beatles classic this one being the first studio record Kenny did with Jim Messina in over 30 years. They did this on the tour and it was fun!
4. Come Go With Me- A doo-wop classic by the Del-Vikings featuring the "New Vikings"!
5. There is a Mountain- The Donovan classic that was for a while shown as a music video on the Disney channel. Again Hana is the star of this one, and this is the best song on the album it got me into Donovan in the first place! Even if it somehow doesn't live up to the original.
6. The Puppy Song- A little known Harry Nilsson song featured on the You've Got Mail soundtrack. This time the backing singer is Loggins' older daughter Bella, who also sang the introduction to his classic "Conviction of the Heart".
7. You Can All Join In- Featuring the song's co-writer Dave Mason on vocals and electric guitar this is another little known gem.
8. Ghandi/ Buddha- By Cheryl Wheeler this is perhaps the most parental track on the album. Kenny's version tells of a man who thinks he "must have done something great" to have his children.
9. Long Tailed Cat- Also known as "Long tail Cat" this was originally by Loggins & Messina from their second album. This one features Leon Russell and more of Kenny's children in the "Dixie holiday" part.
10. Your Lollipop- Perhaps the oddest track on the album based on the 2007 Mika hit "Lollipop" here adapted as a children's hand-jive style tune.
11. Moose 'n' Me- a bitter song about Loggins' first dog. If you listen carefully you can hear Kenny's oldest son Crosby singing in the background...
12. 1234- Another recent hit reworked as a children's song. Again Hana is the featured vocalist and appears to be skipping rope while singing.
The QVC issue includes two bonus tracks that are not apparently on the regular release, Taj Mahal's "Fishin' Blues" and John Sebastian's "Daydream".
