More About the Author

Dusty Rainbolt is an award-winning cat writer according to her answering machine. She recently stopped writing on her cats because they move around too much and smeared ink on the furniture. She's the vice president of the Cat Writers' Association (www.catwriters.org) and author of Cat Wrangling Made Easy: Maintaining Peace and Sanity in Your Multicat Home, Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits, and Kittens For Dummies. She also known for her humorous science fiction novel, All The Marbles. Dusty has co-authored the humorous fantasy novels, The Four Redheads of the Apocalypse and Apocalypse Now! with three other redheaded authors: Linda Donahue, Rhonda Eudaly and Julia Mandala. She pens the monthly feline advice columns, "Dear Hobbes" for City + Country Pets and "Ask Einstein" at www.stickypaws.com. In her real job, Dusty is the product editor and reviewer for Catnip published by Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She also freelances for Cat Fancy (and anyone else whose checks don't bounce.) Over her writing career she has won 11 Muse Medallions for Excellence and 22 special awards from the Cat Writers' Association. Dusty's been involved in cat rescue for longer than she cares to remember, and she's a feline cat behavior consultant and member of International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good clean fun...., March 17, 2004
This review is from: All the Marbles (Paperback)
From a take-off of everyone's least favorite party-driven pyramid marketing scheme (Galway) to a description of the plots of soap operas, Dusty Rainbolt's 'space opera' is a laugh a page. If she chewed anything at all while she was writing this tongue in cheek epic, I'm sure Dusty would have done some damage. Well done! I can't wait for the sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Purr-Fectly Entertaining Ride, August 8, 2003
By
Rhonda Eudaly (Fort Worth, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: All the Marbles (Paperback)
Rainbolt has a solid first effort in this novels. She pulls no punches either with her fiction or her humor.

All the Marbles is a romp through the universe with the poor heroine who doeesn't know she's the heroine. Chandra is put through her paces by man and cat as she is swept along events not of her own making.

You find yourself wondering along with her what's going on and even feeling her pain, even as you laugh at the situations she finds herself in.

Rainbolt has set up a rolicking trip and you can only wonder what she'll come up with next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wildly Entertaining, January 13, 2010
This review is from: All the Marbles (Paperback)
If, like me, you miss Douglas Adams's brand of space opera humor, then you will enjoy All the Marbles.

At the opening of the book, Chandra thinks she is about as low as a human can get. She is a stranded lineman for an inter-glactic ma bell. Her partner has lost everything she owns in a card game just moments before losing his life.

But Chandra soon learns that things can get so much worse as she is chased across the galaxy by hit men, buccaneers who steal party supplies, media moguls and her own employers, all searching for something that she's never heard of, but that her former partner may have won in the card game.

Chandra's only salvation may lie in some old television broadcasts from Earth, a cat with a bad attitude and an archetiect who can't keep his space ship clean.

All the Marbles is both hilarious and inventive.
