Engelbert talks,
By "scottaw66" (Stowe, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All Of Me/Live In Concert [2-ON-1 CD] (Audio CD)
This "double album" cd begins with 9 live concert songs to start off with and then breaks into his studio album "All of me" for 9 more songs. (2 selections "Ladies night" and "Girl of mine" are deleted from this cd due to the length- 69.17 minutes). Well worth the price! This was the 1st cd I had bought as an introduction to Engelbert's music. It did it's job, but if his new cd "Ultimate Collection" had been out, I would of been more impressed. That is not to say this cd is not enjoyable. It is, for the devotee you could say. It has the original recording of "Quando, Quando, Quando" and a song that puts a spotlight on his fabulous vocals, "Spanish eyes". One very noticable reason to pick up this cd is the version of "A man without love". I noticed that the vocal track on this cd is a different take then the one on his "Ultimate Collection". It is MUCH better on this cd. As we all know, Englebert's vocals need to be up front! So, for the beginner, get the "Ultimate Collection". If you like it, move on to this as your 2nd Engelbert cd. You'll get the live versions of some of his hits and you'll hear him talk in between songs.

For those of you that weren't around to marvel at the wonder of this performer in his early years; here is a glimpse of what he shared with the world. His bringing the audience into his performance and deliverance of his songs is magnificient. I cannot recommend this c d to highly. You will enjoy every second of it. Showes his personality, ease on stage, and love for his audiences. What a handsome, talented young man and shared it all with the world.

ENGE GIVES HIS 'ALL'...,
This review is from: All Of Me/Live In Concert [2-ON-1 CD] (Audio CD)
This 2-on-1CD is a welcome addition for anyone, especially all fans of "ENG". His familiar songs such as "Quando-Quando","Release Me" and others which we all know are on this album. I especially enjoy his participation with the audience-his ability to bring out the humor when he interviews the gals. This CD is quite enjoyable, I kid you not! A good value!

this is classic Engelbert, a concert from the early 1980's and re-recordings of many of his classic hits. A must have for every fan of his music.

I had this CD in a cassette and loved it. I have seen Engelbert in Las Vegas many times and love his music. The only disappointment in this CD is that they left off the country song "This Girl of Mine" which I loved.

This 2-in-1 CD is marvelous for Engelbert fans, though it isn't particularly recommended for first time buyers, because the sound isn't that good; it's a little fuzzy in the "Live in Concert" half, and not strong enough in the "All of Me" half, as I find I have to turn up the volume more than usual for it.
Engites however will love the repartee with the audience in the "Live" part, and a rather rowdy U.S. audience it is, with Eng answering them in his very best Southern accent. Despite the less than perfect audio, there are some outstanding numbers in the concert; Lionel Richie's "Still", the rendition of Nat King Cole's hit "Unforgettable" is fantastic (which is followed by the amusing '20s style "Don't Touch That Dial"), but best of all is a song Edith Piaf made famous, "If You Love Me (Really Love Me)", sung with incredible depth and emotion. "All of Me" (which is missing "Ladies Night" and "Girl of Mine" due to time limitations), is a wonderful collection of Engelbert's early hits, one just as gorgeous as the next, arranged and conducted by Jimmy Haskell, and sung by one of the best voices ever recorded. The beauty of these songs and their interpretation is moving to the core of one's being. The foldout insert has minimal recording info, but we are treated to an Engelbert poem, titled "To You", which has some insightful things to say in how he views his audience...and deserves repeated reading (it took me a couple of times to fully "see" it). Total playing time is 69'25.

My favorite on this album is the Edith Piaf song "If you loved me". Englebert really puts his soul into this song and it is one of my favorites even though it is not one of his that he made famous. Most any of his albums are great.
